She couldn’t believe it, she just couldn’t. She would rather believe that Minerva had married a man who was cruel, cold- blooded, and strikingly ugly.
“Minerva, how dare you flirt with another man behind the mafia boss back!”
Upon hearing these words, Minerva could only helplessly shrug her shoulders. She looked at Zevan and asked. “She’s the one who said this, do you believe her?”
Emilia and Paige were taken aback.
Why is Minerva asking him that? Can it be that the impossible scenario is actually true!
Emilia cautiously glanced at the handsome man, a hint of fear lurking within her. At the same time, she felt humiliated by Minerva.
At that moment, the shop manager brought out a cake with strawberry jam. Zevan held it in his hand and said, “Let’s go. It’s
time to head back.
“Alright.” Minerva followed along. She even turned back to wave at Emilia. “Bye, Emilia”
to her.
Before leaving, Zevan cast a glance at Emilia. The look in his eyes was a clear warning
Emilia felt a chill down her spine upon realizing that if she failed to eliminate Minerva, she would undoubtedly face
retribution.
At that moment, Paige gently nudged Emilia’s arm and whispered, “Emilia, this man seems rather intimidating!”
Emilia responded by shooting a fiery glare,
She was,
course, aware
e that Zevan
Zevan was somewhat intimidating. There was no need for anyone else to remind her.
Paige quickly closed her mouth, not daring to say another word. She felt that for the time being, she should maintain her distance from Emilia, to avoid any retaliation from the mafia
Just moments ago, the look in Zevan’s eyes was filled with hostility. Fear gripped Emilia’s heart, making her wish she hadn’t tried to pick him up. She would rather the former hadn’t noticed her at all, treating her as if she didn’t exist.”
Zevan was no doubt intimidating, but upon reflection, she remembered that she was the daughter of the Somerville family. part of the local aristocracy. Even if the mafia wanted to retaliate against her, it wouldn’t be that easy.
With that thought in mind, Emilia felt a wave of relief.
“Sir, hand me the cake I bought. We’re about to leave.” Emilia went to get the cake.
The manager didn’t comply. “I’m sorry, ladies,” he said, “I can refund your money, even compensate you double the amount. but I can’t give you this cake.”
“Why?” Both Emilia and Paige were taken aback.
The shop manager glared at them angrily. “You two almost provoked someone you shouldn’t have in my shop!”
At this point, Emilia was absolutely certain that she had offended the mafia, and now, Minerva was under the mafia’s protection.
After Zevan had left, Emilia brazenly asked the shop manager, saying, “I’m sorry, we didn’t mean to pry… but could you tell
me who that man was?”
The shop manager, upon hearing her inquiries about the Mafia, impatiently ushered them out of the shop. With a snigger, he

Minerva glanced at the card, pondering over the fact that if she were to use it in public, many would undoubtedly recognize her identity. That would certainly be too conspicuous.
If the Somerville family were to find out about her special privileges given by the mafia boss, they might become wary of her. That would make it difficult for her to investigate certain matters.
“I don’t need it,” she said, shaking her head in refusal.
Zevan furrowed his brows, clearly unaccustomed to being rejected by a woman. Minerva’s rejection had left him feeling somewhat displeased.
“You are my wife, and it’s my duty to provide for you. Moreover, everyone knows you’re the wife of a mafia boss. Therefore, you must spend money to make yourself presentable. It’s basic etiquette in high society.”
“Basic etiquette?” Upon hearing his remark, Minerva was at a loss for words.
“Sorry, I just had my own considerations. If I used your black card public, everyone would know my identity, and that would. just be too flashy.”
Minerva attempted to make him understand her concerns.
“Do you really think that marrying me isn’t high profile enough? You’ve successfully made it through our wedding night and won my favor. Do you honestly think people wouldn’t be watching you? Whether they’re men or women, they’d be curious. They’d wonder what kind of woman could survive in the hands of a ruthless and cold–blooded mafia boss.”
