Chapter 50 A Police Report

The following day, at the crack of dawn, the sun rose from the east, casting its morning light onto the surface of the sea, reflecting a golden glow.
Due to the ill health of some members in Team A, the boat had docked early in the morning. The crew then notified everyone to evacuate.
Chloe had taken special care with her makeup that day to conceal her unattractive complexion. However, her gaze was firmly fixed on Team B. She noticed that apart from Nadia, Brendan, and Jennifer, there was no sign of Gabrielle.
“Ben. Gabrielle didn’t show up.” Chloe lowered her voice while quickly stepping beside Benjamin.
She was so excited that her hands were trembling. The look in her eyes, both ruthless and triumphant, was almost impossible to conceal
Ryan, who trailed behind her, exuded a certain air of arrogance.
He walked up to Chloe. As he brushed past her, he said, “Ms. Seavers, don’t forget the promise you made to me.”
Chloe was somewhat irked by his reminder. However, once she boarded the ship and didn’t see Gabrielle, her displeasure quickly evaporated.
I’m glad you’re dead! You dared to challenge me, but sadly, you’re not destined for victory,” Chloe muttered to herself.
Once she got on the boat, Chloe had reception on her phone again. Instead of surfing the web, she picked up her phone and made a call. She happily plopped down where she was.
Her body continued to throb with pain, yet she felt a sense of satisfaction deep within her.
At last, Gabrielle’s dead!
Luckily, Gabrielle had taken Chloe’s place in marriage before her death. That way, not only did Chloe avoid the marriage herself, but there was also no one left to compete with her for the position of the Seavers family’s heiress.
“Chloe, Benjamin called out while holding his cell phone
His expression had turned grim after receiving a message from home. He quickly made his way over to Chloe’s side.
“Ben, what’s up?” Chloe asked cheerfully.
Benjamin looked at her with a complex expression. After a moment, he said, “Something happened to Mom. She broke her leg when the chandelier at home fell on her, and her face was injured by an exploding phone. She’s in the hospital now.”
His words left Chloe flabbergasted.
Such a rare, dangerous incident actually happened to Marilyn.
The chandelier at home fell and broke Mom’s leg? What are the odds? Has someone been tampering around at home? How’s Mom doing now?” Chloe asked in a low voice.
Chloe was about to scroll the internet, but unexpectedly, she received bad news.
Even if she wasn’t particularly concerned about the matter, she had to show some worry. After all, Marilyn was her safety net If anything were to happen to Marilyn, Chloe’s own status would be affected.
“Things aren’t looking good, Benjamin said, wincing. “As soon as we get back to shore, we’re heading straight to the hospital. It’s perfect timing, really; we still need to get this poison out of our systems, we might as well check ourselves in.”
He casually took away Chloe’s phone, although he didn’t understand why Zachary had insisted on preventing Chloe from watching the news. Regardless, he listened to his brother’s instructions, took the phone, and kept her from watching the
Just then, the director, holding a microphone, announced, “Ladies and gentlemen! You all signed up for a two–week variety

As she listened, Jennifer subtly raised her hand.
“So, we still have to film for a week later, right?” she asked softly.
The director’s smile reached his eyes as he reveled in the popularity of this variety show online.

“Bingo! You’ll have a four–day break, then we’ll resume filming for a week!” While he spoke, the director gestured the staff to serve breakfast to the cast.
Chloe sat there, waves of pain radiating from her lower abdomen.
She made a show of looking around, and only after the boat had started moving, asked in confusion, “Hey, where’s Gabrielle? Why don’t I see her?”
Chloe’s words left the rest of Team I’s faces instantly ashen. Their expressions were tinged with sorrow as they silently turned to gaze out at the sea.
Their actions left Chloe feeling somewhat uneasy. One person was missing, yet the director seemed oblivious. Did he genuinely not notice Gabrielle’s disappearance, or is something else going on?
Chloe was rather restless throughout the entire boat ride.
Over two hours later, the boat docked..
Chloe slipped into her high heels, swaying her hourglass figure as she disembarked from the ship. She had anticipated throng of adoring fans and eager media reporters to greet her but was met with nothing but emptiness.
“Why is no one here? Didn’t the production team invite the media?” Chloe was dumbfounded.
She was crushed. She had initially planned to be the first one to disembark, drawing all the media’s attention to herself. But her calculations were off, leaving her standing there, frozen in place.
“Excuse me, are you Ms. Seavers?” At that moment, two individuals dressed in suits and ties approached.
The two men had their hair slicked back neatly, reminiscent of insurance salesmen.
“That’s me,” Chloe replied softly.
Her heart rate quickened. The ominous premonition grew stronger, causing her to feel an inexplicable sense of panic.
She watched as the other party produced some credentials, presenting thenkto her. They said, “We’re from the life insurance company. You called us two hours ago to report that the person who had previously purchased an accident insurance plan from us was involved in an accident.
Chloe was stunned and flustered.
Noticing the photographer trailing behind her, she moved her lips, pondering what to say when one of the insurance agents directly handed her an insurance policy.
He asked earnestly, “Are you referring to this policy? The accidental insurance of Ms. Gabrielle Simmons? Could you please tell me when and where the accident occurred?”
Chloe was so anxious that she was on the verge of Lears.
Before she boarded the ship, she had indeed called her insurance company. She briefly informed them about Gabrielle’s accident and assured them that she would find time to handle the claims process.
Unexpectedly, these foolish insurance company representatives confronted her right at the shore.
“What are you all babbling about?” Chloe’s face showed signs of embarrassment.
Her lips hardly moved before the insurance agent brought out a call log, explaining. “You called us over two hours ago. We record all our phone conversations.”
No sooner had they finished speaking than two police officers approached from a short distance away.

Chloe couldn’t help but tremble, her teeth clenched in anger. She had never dreamed that she would face such a humiliating day.
“You guys must have made a mistake?” Benjamin realized that things had gone awry.
After all, the live stream was still ongoing, with the cameraman persistently trailing behind them.
The arrival of these insurance agents undeniably threw Chloe under the bus.
“There’s no way we could have made a mistake! Now that the police are here, does your demeanor suggest you’ve made a false report?” The insurance agent asked coldly.
After all, these folks had encountered all sorts of people and situations in the insurance business.
Shocked comments filled the stream. Netizen One: What’s going on? Did Gabrielle pass away?
Netizen Two: Good god, what was the production team doing? Last night, Jennifer invited Gabrielle to the beach, and Gabrielle didn’t return all night. Seriously, no one noticed?
Netizen Three: Those ingrates in Team B, couldn’t they have reported when something went wrong? Didn’t anyone suspect something when one person didn’t return?
Netizen Four: Insurance? Am I the only one sensing something fishy here? Gabrielle had an accident just last night, filing an insurance claim today.”
and Chloe’s already
Netizen Five: Who would buy accident insurance for no reason? It feels like a scene straight out of an insurance conspiracy plot. Don’t tell me this is premeditated?
