Chapter 9
He turned to his assistant that followed closely around with him.
“Bring her in and introduce her. I’ll wait in the car.”
I smiled my thanks to my brother and followed his assistant into the bank. I could feel my heart beating rapidly against my chest. A couple of women were sitting at their desks and typing something onto their computers as we entered. One of them smiled and stood; I couldn’t tell if her smile seemed plastered
or not.
She had short dark that she kept swooped to the side and out of her eyes. Her figure was slender, and she walked over to us with such attitude. I instantly got a weird feeling from her as she swayed her hips in our direction.
“Hello, Mr. Donoghue,” she said to my brother’s assistant. Mr. Donoghue bowed his head to her respectfully. I was guessing David sent him into this bank a lot, considering this was the bank closest to home.
“Good morning miss Emily,” Mr. Donoghue said in return. “I’m here to drop off the new bank manager per orders of the prince.”
“What?” Emily said, staring between the two of us; I could tell her smile was getting harder to hold up. She looked like she was about to burst at any moment. “What do you mean the new Bank Manager?”
“Prince David appointed Anna to be the new bank manager,” he answered, he looked uneasy.
I noticed the other girls were looking amongst themselves with concern on their faces.
“Seriously?” She asked, dumbfounded.
“Oh!” Another girl said from her desk. “I recognize you.
the girl he went to the celebrity party with. Right?”
I didn’t know what to say; I didn’t think anyone would recognize me. I felt my cheeks growing red with embarrassment. They were all staring at me like I

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all,” I said, trying to change the subject. “I hope we can all get along.”
“Hmm,” Emily muttered as she glanced me over. She looked anything but happy. Mr. Donoghue cleared his throat and gave me an encouraging head nod before he left. Emily kept her eyes off mine. “I’ll show you
your office.”
My office was on the top floor of the bank. I wasn’t expecting it to be as big as it was, but it had a huge view of the kingdom city. I looked down at the rush- hour traffic and smiled because it looked like a bunch of little ants.
Emily stood at the door; still examining
me with a frown.
“Don’t expect me to do whatever

will never be my superior,” she hissed.
She slammed the door behind her as she left.
I adapted to work quickly; I’ve always been good with numbers, so this type of work always came naturally to me. But some of the girls, including Emily, didn’t talk to me unless I spoke to them first. Emily was having a hard time adapting to the fact that I was her new boss.
I already knew what everyone was saying about me. Because I didn’t tell them I was the princess, they just assumed I was some lover of David’s. I almost laughed when I heard them gossiping about it; the thought made me visibly cringe.
If only they knew he was my brother.
Emily barged into my office and dropped off a stack of papers. I looked them over, frowning. Some of the files didn’t match the previous work I’ve done. Some of the language I didn’t recognize either.
“Emily?” I called after her before she had a chance to leave. “I don’t think these documents are right. I’ve never seen them before.”
Emily gave me a mocking smile.
Maybe because you aren’t qualified for this job,” she shot back, folding her arms across her chest, and glaring at me.
