Chapter 16
Joseph
“She’s here…” James breathed. “Why’s she here?”
“She must be with the prince,” Joseph responded, still staring at Anna’s back.
“I don’t see the prince anywhere,” James said quickly; he was right. Anna wasn’t with any other wolf; she was surrounded by some females, and they were talking amongst one another.
Anna wore a beautiful white blouse that he’s never seen before and a long maroon skirt. Her long dark hair, usually a dark brown, seemed to have lightened and natural blonde highlights were revealed.
“I should have known she was here,” James said, his voice growing husky. “I can smell her a mile away.”
“Calm down,” Joseph snapped to his wolf.
“Ew,” Ella muttered from beside him. “What the hell is she doing here?”
He ignored his sister.
Joseph blinked a few times as he continued staring at Anna; the lighting was still making her glow. Or maybe it was his eyes; could he be falling ill? That was the only thing that was making sense that that moment. However, he wasn’t feeling ill. Other than the uncomfort James was feeling every time he was apart from Anna.
He shook his head to shake the thought out of his mind. He wasn’t there for Anna; he didn’t even know she was going to be there. He was there because his mother is a huge fan of Anna the painter. Despite the fact that the painter has the same name as his Anna, his mother couldn’t get enough of her work.
Word got out that Anna the painter was going to be attending the wolf festival and have her work for sale at the exhibit. One piece of work, in particular, his mother has her eye on. “The Disappearing Back.”
She’s been talking about the festival for days saying she was going to purchase the painting and get it signed by her idol, Anna the painter.
His Anna was currently at the exhibit, staring lovingly at the artwork. He didn’t even know she liked art; she’s never mentioned it to him before.
“There’s so much we don’t know about her,” James muttered.
By the time they reached the art exhibit, his Anna was gone. He couldn’t help but look around to see if he could spot her, but she wasn’t anywhere to be seen. It was probably for the best.
His mother was instantly drawn to the huge painting on the front of the display. She brushed her fingers across the frame and had a smile on her face that he had never seen before.
“This must be her new painting,” his mother spoke softly. “It’s beautiful…”
“It’s called ‘Disappearing back‘,” one of the festival workers said.
“I know,” his mother shot back with a little rudeness to her voice. “How much?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, mam. This one’s actually not for sale,” he said.
She frowned and narrowed her eyes at him.
“It’s an Anna painting, isn’t it?” She asked; he nodded. “All of her paintings are for sale. How much for this one?”
“I’m sorry, mam,” he said again. “But the artist, Anna, requested for this painting to not be sold.”
see…” his mother said, she was deep in thought about something.
“Whatever her price is, we’ll pay it,” Joseph said, speaking over his mother. “Just tell the artist we will pay her whatever she wants.”
His mother idolized this artist; there was no way he was going to leave the festival without that painting.
“Let me speak with her,” the worker finally said, heading to the back.
The worker came back moments later.

“She’s requesting to meet the people who wish to buy her painting,” he said, motioning for them to follow him.
They followed him into the back of the exhibit and towards a small art room.
“Miss Anna, the guests you requested have been brought to you,” the worker said as Joseph and his family walked up.
