But I had to stop thinking about it. The most important thing right now is to continue to develop that vaccine for the virus. We got the infected wolves singled out and quarantined at the hospitals. We are keeping up to date on everyone’s condition while the researchers work very hard on that vaccine.
“Mariana?” Peter asked, eyeing me carefully.
I realized I hadn’t spoken or responded to him.
“You don’t need to worry, Peter,” I assured him. “I’m not interested in Joseph anymore.”
He frowned; he was looking uncertain.
“I just worry he’s just going to charm his way back into your life,” Peter said.
I shook my head.
“Not a chance. My wolf hasn’t even forgiven him. She’s still so hurt by him. I can’t chance to lose her again,” I told him.
He looked relieved but at the same time, he still looked unsure.
“I think I should live with you anyway,” he finally said. “Just until I know for sure that you’re going to be okay.”
“Did father put you up to that?” I asked, eyeing him carefully.
He looked almost guilty and gave me a sheepish smile.
“We just worry, Mariana. You seem to have a lot of enemies and it seems to be because of Joseph. I don’t trust him. None of us trust him,” Peter said firmly.
I sighed; I really didn’t want to have to live with my brother. But I suppose if it made him and my family more comfortable, I would have to do it.
“It’s temporary though, right?” I asked, keeping my eyes locked on his.
He nodded with a grin.
“Yes,” he told me. “It’s just until everything dies down and Joseph and exit your life.”

It’s been a couple of days since Joseph has seen Anna. James has been getting even more restless and he wasn’t sure what to do about it. It’s not like Anna wanted anything to do with him. But that shouldn’t matter because they have tons of work to do at the research center. It wasn’t right for Anna to avoid her responsibilities.
The vaccine was produced, but it was currently still in the testing phases. They have everyone who has the virus in quarantine and the rest of the kingdom is under protection. But they still had work to be done and it wasn’t fair that Anna wasn’t doing her job.
“Why do you always think so poorly of her,” James complained.
“She’s the one who walked away from us,” Joseph hissed.
“We drove her away,” James said in return.
Joseph just rolled his eyes. It wasn’t his fault that Anna wanted a divorce; he did everything he could for her. He gave her a carefree life; all she had to do was donate her blood to save Tina’s life. He wasn’t asking for that much. She stayed home most of the day and took care of the house; cooked meals and ran errands. She didn’t have to do any of this working stuff.
Now that she wasn’t part of his pack anymore, she seems so different. She’s all over the place and working on things he never thought she was capable of doing.
The thought was making him feel queasy, but he had to get it out of his mind. He couldn’t let her distract him from his work.
Aiden had mentioned that he’s seen Anna going into a house a few times the last few days. It’s safe to assume it’s the house the royals put her in while she acts as their assistant. He still wasn’t clear on her relationship with the royal family.
“We should go to the house and see her,” James suggested.
“She would just kick us out,” Joseph reminded him.
“Maybe.” James huffed. “But maybe not. Regardless she needs to return to the research center and help with the vaccine”
James was right. So, Aiden took him to the house where he saw Anna entering multiple times and they stopped outside of the door. There was a luxury car in the driveway; a car he knew didn’t belong to Anna.
He frowned as he stared at the car, trying to figure out where he has seen it before.
“Have you seen anyone else entering or exiting?” Joseph asked Aiden.
Aiden shook his head; he also looked confused.
“No, sir,” Aiden said.
Just as he was about to get out of the car, the door swung open, and he gasped when he saw who it was.
It was a shirtless Prince Peter.
