Chapter 34
Joseph
Prince Peter and Anna?
They’ve been seeing each other? They had to have been seeing each other. He’s over her house; or their house. Could they be lovers?
This wasn’t making any sense to Joseph and his wolf was growing furious at the sight before them. Before Joseph could stop himself, he slammed his car door shut as he stood in the driveway, staring at Peter with fury in his eyes.
Aiden waited patiently in the car, watching the events unfold in front of him.
“Alpha Joseph?” Peter said, narrowing his eyes and raising his eyebrows. “What are you doing here?”
Joseph opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. James was at his boiling point and Joseph feared he was about to lose control. He could feel his face growing redder with each passing moment and he clenched his fists at his sides. All he wanted at that moment was to rip Prince Peter’s throat out. But he knew he couldn’t, or it would be the end of everything he’s worked so hard to build. He had to try to keep himself calm.
Before any more words were exchanged, Anna appeared at the doorway behind Peter. Her eyes widened when she saw Joseph, but then her face fell into a disappointed gaze. She folded her arms across her chest and looked at Peter.
“Can you give us a minute?” Anna asked; he seemed uncertain, but he nodded and went back inside.
They stood outside in silence for a moment; Joseph was trying to control his temper and Anna was probably doing the same thing.
“So, that’s it. Huh?” Joseph asked through a tightened jaw.
“What?” Anna asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
“That’s how you managed to get all these jobs and this house,” Joseph scoffed. “You and Prince Peter are involved.”
She rolled her eyes, but she said nothing in response to it.
“What are you doing here, Joseph?” She asked.
It was infuriating that she wasn’t responding to his question.
“I came by to see why you haven’t been at the research center,” Joseph answered, still trying to keep his cool.
“I’ve been busy,” she muttered. “Plus, I’ve been keeping in touch with them. It seems everything is under control. The vaccine is developed and is in the middle of being tested. If anything goes wrong, they will let me know.”
joseph took in a deep breath, his anger subsiding slightly as he stared around Anna’s beautiful face. Her scent was calming James down as it so often did.
“Look…” Joseph said, taking a step closer to her. “I was thinking about what you said the other day. The best I can do is get Tina to apologize. But I can’t jeopardize her health…”
“I’m not interested in her fake apologies,” Anna muttered, turning away from him.
“Anna…” Joseph tried to explain further but Anna had already opened the door to her house.
“I’m not interested in negotiating with you, Joseph,” she sneered. “Leave now.”
She slammed the door as she went inside.

It’s been weeks since I last saw Joseph; he appeared, unannounced, in front of my house. He got the wrong idea about Peter and me, but I wasn’t going to correct him, it wasn’t his business my relationship with Peter or anyone else for that matter. I was annoyed that he bothered to show up for something so stupid.
Alice could feel him instantly as he pulled into the driveway. She cried out in agony because of the pain her mate did to her. She was conflicted between wanting to be around him and wanting nothing to do with him. I couldn’t blame her; the best thing for us both was for Joseph to just leave us alone.
As soon as I saw him, it took everything I had not to burst into tears. But I had to keep strong, and I had to stand by my word. I wasn’t going to let him back
into my life after everything he’s done to me and my wolf. He didn’t deserve another chance; he wasn’t someone I was ever going to forgive.
I brushed the thought off my head and finished getting dressed for the day ahead. It has been a lot easier to avoid him now that I didn’t need to go to the Montroy pack’s research center. The virus was finally under control and my work there was done.
