Even thoughs it was all nonsense, they still took it
The recent events had been so bizarre that they had no choice but to be alert. Could it be that we really have encountered a ghost?
“What nonsense are you spouting? Gabrielle, how dare you return? Look at what you’ve done to us. If it wasn’t for you, would our family be in such a dire state?” Marilyn was frightened by Gabrielle’s words. Her body trembled uncontrollably as she yelled at Gabrielle,
The words of Gabrielle sent shivers down Marilyn’s spine, plunging the latter into a state of fear.
“Huh? Did I cause it? If you say so, then it must be true, right? Look at me, I’m perfectly fine. The ones in trouble are you guys. Well, I can only say I’m luckier than you all, Gabrielle murmured.
Her words were laced with sarcasm, cutting deeply into everyone in the Seavers family, much like a sharp knife.
Gabrielle may have seemed to be murmuring, but each word was dripping with schadenfreude, leaving the Seaverses gritting their teeth in frustration. Yet they dared not lay a finger on Gabrielle, after all, she was now married into the Zechman family. “Mrs. Seavers, w–what’s that behind you?” Gabrielle suddenly shrieked and stepped back instinctively.
Marilyn jolted with fear and tumbled out of the hospital bed. In a panic, she exclaimed, “Where? Where is it? Don’t come any
closer.”
She was terrified, constantly shifting her body. But with her broken leg, her movements were limited, leaving her no choice but to cower in fear by the edge of the bed.
“I think I’m just seeing things, Gabrielle said softly.
Everyone felt as if their minds had exploded. Even a fool would realize that Gabrielle was playing them.
Seething with anger, Zachary strode toward Gabrielle, his fury from the day all culminating in this moment. He confronted. her, “Cabrielle, what on earth are you trying to do?”
No sooner had he finished speaking, than there was a knock at the door.
A middle–aged man in a robe stepped into the room. His eyes, bright and alert, scanned the ward. He then asked, “Are you all members of the Seavers family?”
“Are you Father Sebastian?” Upon spotting the middle–aged man, Zachary immediately approached.
Sebastian Hudson flicked a cross through the air. He then pointed toward the center, declaring. “Monsters and spirits, move aside.”
After he had finished everything, he nodded with a serious expression and said, “That’s correct, 1 am Father Sebastian”
“Every one of you is jinxed! I could see it all from the hospital’s ground floor. All the bad luck was radiating from your room.” Sebastian continued, his gaze shifting to Marilyn in confusion. “Mrs. Seavers, have you recently worn anything blessed by a monastery or a church?”
Upon hearing this, Marilyn remembered the emerald pendant Gabrielle had initially given her–the same pendant Gabrielle had taken back on the day of Gabrielle’s substitute marriage.
Yes! She gifted me an emerald pendant, said to be blessed by a monastery. I wore it for over six months, but she took it back a few days ago. Marilyn spoke as if she had found her backbone.
Is there something wrong with the emerald pendant? Did she tamper with it? Did wearing that emerald pendant bring me bad luck?” Marilyn kept asking.
Her eyes were filled with longing, silently pleading for Sebastian to follow her lead. This way, she could conveniently blame all of her recent misfortunes on Gabrielle.

bastian said. He turned around and
He saw her pure and untouched face, with those linely chiseled cheeks, her beauty was undeniable and flawless. The aura she exuded was as if it was innate, cold yet noble.
Sebastian gazed deeply at her, then asked, “My young friend, could you show me the emerald pendant?”
“Sure,” Gabrielle said, a smile playing across her face as she teasingly looked at Sebastian. She pulled out the emerald pendant and presented it in mid–air. The cord was entwined around her fingertips, and the pendant radiated the emerald’s glow.
Sebastian glanced at it, disbelief coloring his voice as he said, “Is this emerald pendant yours?”
Gabrielle tucked away the emerald pendant, her small hands folded behind her. In a soft voice, she said, “Of course.”
“Could you possibly sell me that emerald pendant? It seems to be of fine quality. Sebastian asked with delight. There was even a touch of greed reflected in his gaze toward her.
At first glance, he could tell that the radiance emanating from this emerald pendant was not ordinary. It was the result of years of accumulation and had been blessed by a master with profound knowledge and experience.
This type of emerald pendant would be worth over a hundred million on the market. It was a rare find, the creme de la crème among consecrated jewelry,
“Father Sebastian, is there an issue with the emerald pendant?” Marilyn hastily inquired upon observing the situation.
Sebastian turned around, somewhat displeased at Marilyn’s interruption. Looking at her as if she were a simpleton, he said, “Mrs. Seavers, do you know the significance of this emerald pendant?”
“What?” Marilyn was taken aback. As she looked into Sebastian’s eyes, she saw a hint of contempt that filled her with an ominous premonition.
“This emerald pendant is a top–tier blessed item, capable of warding off all sorts of malevolent forces and even absorbing misfortune on behalf of its wearer. You said you’ve been wearing it for roughly seven months. From what I can see, you’re plagued with misfortune. If it weren’t for this emerald pendant, I fear you would’ve been dead by now, Sebastian rebuked in a low, angry voice.
His words left Marilyn flabbergasted. She collapsed onto the ground, disbelief ringing in her voice as she stammered. “It can’t be, it just can’t be. How could it be? It was just an ordinary emerald pendant.”
As she spoke, she suddenly turned to Sebastian and bellowed. “Did you conspire with her? You’re just trying to trick me into wearing that thing again. Are you trying to take my life?”
Sebastian looked at Marilyn with disbelief, then let out a cold snort. “Believe whatever you want. Since you don’t trust me, why bother sending someone to call me over? Today must be my unlucky day, making a futile trip. I’m leaving right now.”
He added, “Don’t blame me for not warning you. Without the blessing of this emerald pendant, the Seaverses would’ve been ruined and wiped out long ago. You’re all blind, mistaking something good for a harmful item. You deserve whatever misfortune befalls you. With that, he flicked his cross and strode away. He arrived in a rush and left just as abruptly.
Before Marilyn could utter a word, he had already vanished beyond the doorway.
“Father Sebastian” Marilyn was quite startled. She had heard of Sebastian back when she was in the industry. Many wealthy families had invited him to assess their geomancy. After his rituals, those families‘ businesses always seemed to run smoothly and successfully.
Marilyn felt a pang of regret for her hasty words earlier, realizing she had inadvertently offended someone.
Recalling Sebastian’s words, Marilyn turned to Gabrielle, her face stern as she said, “Since Father Sebastian said your emerald pendant is useful, why haven’t you handed it over for me to wear? Are you wishing for my death?”
Marilyn, carrying an air of authority, was giving commands to Gabrielle in an imposing manner.
The laughter in Gabrielle’s eyes was nearly impossible to hide. She came today, anticipating Sebastian’s arrival. She was here
