“That’s not good. Someone’s trying to break my sigil,” he whispered.

Regrenably, before he could react, he dropped the wine glass in his hand with a clatter, shattering it on the floor. The wine splashed onto the carpet, staining it a deep crimson beneath his feet
“Who is this? They’re so powerful! N–No!” The man was somewhat taken aback. Before he could retaliate, a wave of pain surged in his chest, causing him to immediately spit out a mouthful of fresh blood.
He stood there, rooted to the spot, his eyes wide in reluctant acceptance. He could faintly hear the sound of his heart shattering, and a fierce flame ignited in his chest.
The flame had seared his insides to shreds. He fell to the ground in defiance, his chest exploding with a thunderous blast before he collapsed silently into the pool of red wine.
Blood continued to seep from the corner of his mouth, and the despair in his eyes was ever–present. Unfortunately, he had no chance to retaliate.
“This is all you’ve got, yet you dare behave so arrogantly?” Gabrielle’s echoed throughout the room. She stood by the window, her hands clasped behind her back. Slowly, she turned around and walked towards the elderly man
In the man’s final moments, his lips quivered in sheer terror when he laid eyes on her, yet he couldn’t utter a single word. With one last blink, he passed away.
After witnessing his final breath, Gabrielle pulled out a sigil and tossed it onto his body, setting him ablaze. Even his very soul was obliterated in the aftermath.
People like this simply don’t deserve a second chance at life

“They manipulated information about Chloe’s identity, even falsifying her birth details. It was clear they were hiding something, not wanting certain things to be exposed. Why would these people go to such lengths to create a new persona Chloe, only to hand her over to the Seavers family?” she muttered to herself.
“Could it be something the Seavers family’s own doing, intending to keep this thing at home? What secret does Chloe possess that makes her so loved by the Seavers family?” Gabrielle could not figure it out.
However, the death of this man meant that Chloe was bound to face repercussions. The aura that once surrounded her would gradually fade away.
After a cursory glance at her surroundings, Gabrielle nonchalantly tossed the ancestral tablet that the old man was venerating onto the ground. She set the entire mansion ablaze without a second thought. Only after doing all this did she take out a sigil. tossing it into the air. She instantly vanished from the mansion, finding herself back in her bedroom at the Zechman residence.
Upon returning, she took the time to change her clothes before opening the door to step outside. When she saw Charles looking at her with tear–filled eyes, Gabrielle instinctively took two steps back.
“Charles? What’s wrong?” Gabrielle asked in confusion.
Charles strode forward, positioning himself in front of her, a CT scan still clutched in his hands.
“Mrs. Zechman, the medicine you provided was incredibly potent. After consuming two doses, the changes in my body were quite noticeable. After the pain subsided, I went to the hospital for a CT scan. Even the doctor was amazed, questioning how the kidney stones could have passed overnight. Apart from a few fragments, the majority had been broken down and expelled. Mrs. Zechman, you truly are extraordinary! Charles exclaimed excitedly.
Had Charles not experienced it himself, he would never have imagined someone to be so skilled.
‘m glad you’re okay,” Gabrielle said softly.
Charles, holding the CT scans, made his way towards the study, murmuring, “I should go and inform Mr. Zechman about this first and let him know just how amazing you are.”

“Is it really worth getting this excited over such a trivial matter?” she mused. She was perplexed, yet she accepted the reaction eventually.
The tranquil study was filled with vintage furniture. One wall was filled with a bookshelf, laden with a variety of out–of–print books. On the other side was a wine rack, brimming with an assortment of expensive alcohol. Jonathan was seated in the chair at his desk, his strong, broad hand resting on one side of the chair.
“So. are you implying that your uncle’s disappearance is linked to the poisoning incident? And he vanished once it was confirmed that your poisoning was incurable?” Kieran asked quietly. Upon saying this, he came to his senses, somewhat taken aback by these events.
“So, all these years, you’ve been investigating your uncle behind your mother’s back. Did you suspect him to be linked to the poisoning from the start?” Kieran asked with a huff. This was unbelievable, and it seemed like he was the last to know of this.
“Why not! Over the years, he’d been biding his time, seemingly unaware of the mole within the Zechman family. Wasn’t he just waiting for the right moment to strike and catch them all in one swoop when they made their move?” Michael scoffed disdainfully.
He rose to his feet, picked up a bottle of liquor, and uncorked it. Pouring himself a glass, he held it up and took a small sip. Michael’s towering figure was highlighted by the casual sportswear he wore. He leaned over leisurely, continuously swirling
his drink
“Right now, Frankie has vanished without a trace. We’re exposed while the enemy lurks in the shadows. Any slight movement is bound to arouse suspicion. Should we take out that mole in the Zechman family who has connections with the Seavers family?” Kieran added. He was holding an iPad, writing on it as he went along.
“Don’t touch him yet. If we do, Uncle Frankie will definitely suspect something’s amiss. I want to see who he has teamed up with that would dare act against the Zechman family. When exactly did they join forces with the Seavers family, I wonder? My grandfather and Old Mr. Seavers were so close, it’s hard to tell if my grandfather had any knowledge about what the Seavers family was doing. If Old Mr. Seavers were to find out, then the Seavers family would cease to exist,” Jonathan said gravely
He was known for his ruthless efficiency in handling matters. Once a decision was made, there was no room for turning back.
They forced Gabrielle to marry you and even took out an extra insurance policy. Was it all to set her up for an accident after the wedding and then pin the blame on you?” Michael asked after a long silence, his voice low. Clearly, the likelihood was quite high.
When the conversation turned to Cabrielle, Jonathan picked up his coffee and took a light sip, his well–defined fingers gently rubbing the edge of the cup. “Why did Caleb suddenly anger your parents?” Jonathan asked, his voice gravelly.
After taking a swig of wine, Michael put his glass down heavily.
“Speaking of this, it’s just laughable. Out of the blue, he called my mom yesterday, not only insulting her, but also cursing my dad! He even went as far as to say that he’d take over the Lefevre family and wished them dead. A mistress schemed against my father years ago, resulting in her pregnancy. She then used the child to pressure us. My family places great importance on lineage, so we reluctantly allowed Caleb to join our household Over the years, I’ve given him quite a bit of support. I didn’t expect him to be so impatient,” Michael said with a hint of disdain. He did not like this illegitimate child.
On the surface, Caleb appeared sensible, but in reality, he was very ambitious.
“Why do you suppose he held his peace for so many years, only to suddenly reveal his true colors and take the initiative to call and discuss this matter with your parents?” Jonathan asked, his tone grave.
Michael was left bewildered after hearing that query.
“So you’re suggesting that someone’s been pulling strings behind the scenes? Who could be so powerful as to force him to make such a call? This would spell the end of his career. He’d never do it willingly, even if it killed him,” said Michael.
Jonathan let out a silent chuckle after hearing this. “Perhaps there was someone who could?” Jonathan quietly suggested
Upon hearing those words, Michael leaned in with a hint of intrigue, lowering his voice to ask, “Who would be formidable enough to pull this off?
