Chapter 94 Alert Them
- Pearis
Although he had his suspicions about these matters and had even consulted experts, none had been able to identify any
Yet Gabrielle had spotted the problem at a glance and even knew there was something hidden in the pond.
“I thought my abilities were declining with age. Even Father Sebastian found nothing amiss when he came to inspect,” Arthur admitted
Gabrielle raised an eyebrow at the mention of Sebastian.
The same Father Sebastian the Seavers family paid a fortune to consult recently?” she asked quietly.
Arthur nodded.
That’s the one. He handles geomancy for most elite families in Drocver. Normally, he can resolve any issue, which is why he maintains such strong connections with the wealthy. Recently, I heard the Seavers family had been desperately trying to hire him due to their string of misfortunes. But apparently, they ended up offending him. Father Sebastian publicly declared he’d never work with them again.” Arther revealed.
These matters were not secrets. They had already been widely circulated within the circle.
Many mocked the Seavers family for their shortsightedness. Who in their right mind would provoke a geomancy consultant? They’d brought their misfortunes upon themselves.
“If you trust me, never let Father Sebastian set foot in the Zechman manor again. If he were truly skilled, he would ve detected the heavy negative energy in this pond. At the very least, he should’ve noticed the burial clothes.”
She continued. “Unless he did notice–but chose not to mention it. After all, this wouldn’t affect the Zechman family’s fortune. But you Old Mr. Zechman, you live here year–round. At your age, your vitality isn’t as robust as a younger person’s. You’d mevitably be affected. Over time, your health would only deteriorate further.” Gabrielle told him
Arthur paled at her words, a chill running down his spine,
Jonathan’s hands clenched into fists. Gabrielle’s explanation felt like nails driving into his heart. He hadn’t imagined someone would dare target his grandfather so viciously,
“Thank you.” Jonathan said hoarsely
Cabrielle tilted her head with a smile, hands behind her back. “For what?” she asked.
“For being high–profile. Now that everyone knows about the pond, the culprit will panic. Whoever planted this will scramble to cover their tracks, which means they’ll lie low for now. That actually makes Grandpa safer. Father Sebastian inspected the Zechman manor before but found nothing! Once word spreads among the elite, his reputation will take a hit. He’ll have no choice but to come to us, except we’ll refuse to see him. Naturally, he’ll grow anxious and seek to resolve matters. Thus, the initiative will fall into the Zechman family’s hands, Jonathan analyzed calmly.
The moment he saw Gabrielle’s theatrics, he had guessed her plan to alert the culprit.
Though they hadn’t interacted much, he knew she wasn’t one to stir up trouble. He also understood that she didn’t like to show off, and certainly didn’t carry any airs about her
Yet today, she’d handed out monetary gifts and recruited half the staff to pick lotus pods with her.
He’d known she was up to something and deliberately allowed it
And now, the trap had sprung
“Well, since you’ve figured it out, my job here is done. Those one hundred and eighty–eight gold bars are officially mine.” Gabrielle said lightly.
Even for someone like her, accepting something worth fifty to sixty million required some justification

Besides, she preferred settling debts immediately
Solving one or two problems for the Zechman family now meant she wouldn’t owe them later.

“One hundred and eighty–eight gold bars? You like gold, girl? I have plenty,” Arthur said, already signaling for someone to fetch more.
Gabrielle waved her hands frantically and said. “No, not Jonathan already gave me one hundred and eighty–eight gold bars That’s more than enough!”
She hastily shoved a lotus pod into Arthur’s hands. “You’ve been stressed lately. This’ll help cool you down”
“Only one hundred and eighty–eight Arthur accepted the lotus and gazed at Jonathan pensively. Confusion flashed across his eyes as he muttered. “Since when have you been so stingy?”
Clearly, he was blamed for giving too little.
Jonathan stiffened, uncharacteristically awkward as he rubbed his nose.
“I worned shed refuse if I offered more,” he explained, sounding somewhat awkward.
He’d calculated carefully–if she deemed it insufficient, he could always add more later. But offering too much upfront might’ve made her suspect ulterior motives and decline altogether.
“Who refuses gold! If you want to give, just give! Why worry about giving too much?” Arthur huffed.
Gabrielle quickly intervened. “Grandpa, it’s truly generous. I’ve packed it all into a suitcase. Any more and I wouldn’t be able to carry it. Besides, no rewards without merit. Don’t you think the task I handled today justifies this compensation?” she
asked.
Her soothing words mollified Arthur slightly.
I poor. We could give one thousand eight
-Don’t defend him. A man should be generous, especially to women. Our family isn’t poor. We c hundred and eighty–eight bars without blinking.”
After grumbling, Arthur suddenly brightened. “How about an advance for future services? Next time something comes up. you’ll help me, yes?”
“Let’s discuss it after I finish filming the variety show,” Gabrielle deflected smoothly.
She didn’t agree, but she didn’t reject it either
She avoided unnecessary commitments. Taking on obligations weighed on her conscience.
Ah, yes I’ve been watching your show. Your skills are on par with this wooden block John. Honestly, with his personality, he doesn’t deserve you.”
The more he spoke, the more he admired Gabrielle. She was only twenty, yet so extraordinarily capable. Her talent was unmatched by anyone
“Grandpa.” Jonathan quickly called out.
Arthur scowled. “What? It’s the truth. She’s twenty, you’re twenty–eight. Got a problem with that? You’ve lived eight years. longer, caten more meals–yet she’s miles ahead. Don’t like hearing it?”
Jonathan was left somewhat speechless by his scolding.
The usually formidable Jonathan, who commanded fear in boardrooms, could only stand there and take the scolding.
“Yes, you’re right, Grandpa I’m inferior to Gabrielle I’ll need Ms. Simmons‘ guidance in the future,” he said solemnly.
Gabrielle’s lips twitched. She turned away, shoulders shaking with laughter.
