Chapter 109 An Odd Village
Gabrielle didn’t believe in coincidences, but the scent was indeed strikingly similar.
Upon catching the scent, she instinctively looked toward the village

“Gabby, why are you zoning out? Are you feeling unwell? Your complexion doesn’t look too good.” Upon noticing this, Nadia quickly stepped forward and touched Gabrielle’s forehead.
Gabrielle’s thoughts were abruptly reeled back in, and she quickly shook her head
“It’s nothing: I was just lost in thought.” Gabrielle forced a smile.
Afraid that others might notice something was amiss, she kept silent..
Curious comments flooded the screen: Jhat does that mean? Is Gabrielle sulking because Chloe picked the better house?
Netizen Two: Am I the only one who felt something was off about Gabrielle’s behavior? Is there something wrong with the village!
Netizen Three: Good heavens, this village feels kinda gloomy, like those deadly, haunted villages from the movies.
Netizen Four Anyone here a local? Have you heard of this village before? The production team isn’t planning to stir things up, are they?
The online viewers felt a sense of unease seeping through the screen as they watched the live stream.
Gabrielle’s earlier expression had set the internet abuzz with various interpretations. Chloe’s fans immediately seized the opportunity, intending to tarnish Cabrielle’s reputation.
Netizen One: I’m a local, and this place is known as Death Village. Rumor has it that many people have seen spirits at night, which is why we call it Death Village. Most people are too afraid to go in
Netizen Two: I heard the men and women here don’t marry outside their community: they’ve always gotten married amongst themselves! Its incredibly mysterious.
The audience online was on tenterhooks, their gaze fixed on the village with a growing sense of trepidation. Their curiosity about this village had peaked, and they were glued to the live stream, afraid to look away for fear of missing out on any drama.
At the same time, the show’s cast was moving their belongings in. Team A’s area was eerily empty. The grand abode had nothing in it.
Chloe wore a grim expression but dared not say a word.
“Choose a room; we can sleep on sheets on the floor.” Chloe managed a weak smile as she picked the largest room.
Others began choosing rooms, but Caleb felt uncomfortable. He felt a pervasive chill around him, causing him to shudder involuntarily. He muttered under his breath. “Why is this place so cold?”
“The countryside in the mountains must be cold. It’s already fifteen degrees! You need to wear a jacket,” Benjamin hastily said
Caleb, carrying his luggage, walked into the room, sensing that someone was observing him from behind.
Meanwhile, everyone from Team B had moved their things into their house.
In was an old–fashioned home with just two rooms.
Brendan had chosen the smaller room, leaving the larger bedroom for the three ladies.
They had the bed made up in no time but soon found themselves gazing at the ceiling, lost in thought. They had a feeling it was going to rain that night, and it wasn’t looking promising
“Go outside and see if you can find some grass. Bring some back for us to weave together, so we can patch up the holes in the

Jennifer and Brendan moved closer, watching Gabrielle’s smooth. faid–like movements She swiftly drew a few sigily and placed them in different comers of the house. She then said. “The house hasn’t been lived in for a long time. Let’s muster up
some courage
“Haha, put one on my forehead.” Nadia suggested, leaning her face in closer
Gabrielle gently tapped Nadia’s forehead with her pen. Nada perked up like a child and ran outside, shouting “Jenny, let’s go find some grass
“Sure” Seeing the situation. Jennifer also hurriedly followed suit
After a long silence, Gabrielle sketched a few more sigils, then walked out with them in hand
She handed a sigil to Patrick and said. “Put it on your car and wherever you’re staying to boost our courage.”
After receiving the sigil. the director was so frightened that his hands began to tremble
He seemed to have grasped Gabrielle’s character. If she remained silent, then surely, there was no problem. But when she did speak up, something was definitely amiss. Now that she had gone as far as drawing a sigil didn’t it imply that the place was haunted:
“Okay, okay” Patrick hastily received the sigils.
He distributed a piece each to the two groups of photographers, kept one for himself, and even put one on another car
Gabrielle held the last two sigils and headed next door.
“Do you need this?” Gabrielle asked.
Upon spotting Gabrielle, Chloe immediately became alert. When she saw the sigil in Gabrielle’s hand, she reacted with a hint of disdain, saying “I am an independent woman of the twenty–first century; I only believe in science, not in these things
night” Gabrielle said, chuckling as she tucked away the sigil.
Despite Chloe’s verbal rejection, she still reached out for the sigil. Alas, Gabrielle had already pocketed the item. Chloe’s hand froze mid air, and she watched, somewhat taken aback, as Gabrielle turned and walked away
She had expected Cabrielle to at least attempt to convince her, but it seemed as if Gabrielle was doing it on purpose
She seemed to have anticipated Chloes stubborn refusal and never intended to give the sigil to her in the first place, merely going through the motions for appearances sake. She, however, understood this all too well, yet didn’t dare to voice it out.
“You Chloe sputtered livid
She hadn’t noticed it before, but when Gabrielle took back the sigil, Chloe also felt a certain chill.
“Achoo” She sneezed
When Caleb saw her sneeze, he picked up a jacket and walked toward her. Handing it over, he said, “Don’t catch a cold. Put this jacket on.”
“Thank you” Chloe responded softly
As she received the clothes she noticed Caleb staring intently at her
“What are you looking at Chloe asked in a low voice
After drugging Caleb last night, she was constantly restless, especially after noticing that Caleb was acting rather off today and always trying to touch her thigh
The sensation discomfited her. She felt as nauseous as if she had just swallowed a fly but couldn’t throw it u

Chloe was standing outside. After scanning the surroundings, she identified a serious issue. She quickly walked into the living room and said, “It’s six o’clock now. It’ll be dark soon. We haven’t figured out dinner yet, and we haven’t even had lunch. What should we do
Tristian casually tossed his backpack aside, removed his sunglasses and clipped them onto his collar. He drawled, “I’m on a diet, so it’s fine if I don’t eat
“If we don’t eat today, we should still prepare some food for tomorrow, or else we’ll starve,” Chloe said quietly.
Recalling their previous ordeal on the deserted island, where everyone suffered from food poisoning that led to constant bours of diarrhea, Chloe was determined not to go through it again. This time, unity was essential.
“So, what do you want to do?” Tristian asked.
After a brief moment of silence, Chloe suggested softly. “Isn’t there a mountain nearby? Let’s go check it out. Maybe we’ll find some wild chickens or something after the rain. We could catch one for dinner.”
“Fine, let’s go then. Benjamin chimed in agreement.
His only job was to follow Chloe.
Caleb could only follow suit in such a situation. The group marched toward the mountain behind the village. As they progressed, they found themselves venturing into increasingly secluded areas. It seemed as though the villagers refrained from venturing out after nightfall.
“This village seems a bit odd. There’s nobody around.” Benjamin muttered confusedly.
No sooner had he finished speaking than he noticed that the people from Team B seemed to be cutting grass.
“It seems like Team B is ready to eat grass for dinner,” Benjamin said. He even whistled at the people of Team B, asking. “Are you guys giving up on real food:”
The members from Team B shot him a glance but did not reply.
After completing her sigils. Gabrielle also came over. However, her gaze was directed toward the depths of the village. With a puzzled expression, she said. That presence, why has it disappeared? I clearly sensed it when I arrived.”
