“Ugh!” Caleb let out a muffled grunt of agony.

He retracted his hand from the pain and saw the mark left by the fork on his arm, with blood continuously oozing out.
Caleb clutched his arm, turned to look at Gabrielle with a gaze as if he wanted to end her, but Gabrielle just sat there, staring back at him coldly. “If you dare lay a hand on my people again, it won’t end with a little scratch,” Gabrielle said in a chilling
voice.
Seeing Caleb hurt, Chloe angrily spun around, her glare fixed on Gabrielle as she snapped, “Gabrielle, you’ve crossed the line.”
After a second, she continued through gritted teeth, “We’re all here for the variety show. Even if we’re not friends, we should at least maintain some civility, right? Do you think you’re all that just because you can hurt someone without a word?”
Gabrielle snorted.
She slowly rose to her feet, taking a step forward. Her commanding presence was so overwhelming that it caused Chloe to involuntarily retreat two steps back.
“Then, shouldn’t you all have some decency first? Don’t just show up and snatch food whenever you feel like it. And when you don’t get what you want, you resort to violence! Had I not stepped in earlier, wouldn’t Nadia have been strangled to death? Your own team is way too arrogant, and you still have the nerve to shout at me? You’re thinking that since the cameraman’s not here, then there’s no one else here but us, right?”
After a pause, Gabrielle added with a sneer, “Do you think that just because we’re not on air, others won’t know what Or do you think I can’t tell what you’ve done? You know better than anyone what’s going on with Caleb, no?”
That was enough to make Chloe break into a cold sweat.

She gazed at Gabrielle in slight bewilderment. Seeing the provocation and warning in her eyes, Chloe started to panic.
After all, she was the one who had done something bad first. She wasn’t sure if Gabrielle had really seen through her, but Gabrielle’s words clearly carried deeper meaning.
Does she know? No, it’s impossible. Gabrielle is just a simpleton. There’s no way she could be that capable. Chloe desperately tried to reassure herself.
Gabrielle stood there, her hands clasped behind her back.
With a calm, indifferent aura, she smiled coldly at Chloe with a hint of mockery, as if she were watching a mere jester’s performance.
did?
“What’s the matter? Feeling guilty? Or should I announce to everyone what you’ve done?” Gabrielle raised an eyebrow, clearly
angry.
Chloe’s heart pounded.
She knew Gabrielle all too well–this was exactly how she acted before she got truly angry.
At that moment, she didn’t dare push Gabrielle’s limits. Unsure whether Gabrielle truly knew the truth, Chloe quickly turned and clutched Caleb’s arm.
I’m not hungry, really. Please don’t be upset. We can get our own food,” Chloe said, her eyes reddening as she shook her head at him.
Seeing her in such distress, Caleb felt as if something had pierced his heart.
He slowly turned his gaze toward Gabrielle, and when he saw her clear eyes, his body jolted abruptly. It was as if something suppressed within him was starting to scream.
“Ugh…” He kept shaking his head in discomfort.

“Is your head hurting again? Come on–let me help you back to rest.” Upon seeing this, Chloe hurriedly assisted Caleb as they made their way back.
As Chloe passed by Gabrielle, her eyes were red, and she bit her lip with a look of grievance.
“I understand that you don’t like me, maybe even despise me. I’m fine with that, really, but please, don’t take it out on those who care about me. I’m really fine if it’s just me.” Her voice trembled with suppressed sobs.
She acted as though everything was just an illusion, and everyone was picking on her.
“You sure know how to act all innocent. It’s true that posers are simply despicable,” Gabrielle snapped without holding back.
Tears immediately streamed from Chloe’s eyes. Before, Gabrielle never dared to offend her. Even if she was scolded by Chloe, she would just take it. But ever since Gabrielle took Chloe’s place in marriage, it was as if she had been brainwashed.
Chloe was so frustrated that she stomped her foot, quickly helping Caleb outside.
“Are you feeling any better?” Chloe asked softly.
She was mad. When she saw him gripping Nadia’s neck earlier, a flicker of delight had crossed her heart.
She truly wished that Caleb could strangle Nadia to death. Unfortunately, Gabrielle had ruined everything and even turned the situation against her.
“It’s okay. I’m really fine,” Chloe said in a hushed tone.
The irritation deep within Caleb was erased by her gentle voice.
As she helped him out, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of curiosity. There was something within him that seemed to stir and struggle to awaken whenever he looked into Gabrielle’s eyes, only to be forcefully suppressed.
It felt as though something had been erased. Something didn’t seem right, yet he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was.
“He’s not feeling too well,” Chloe whispered. “We’ll go get something to eat later. Let’s allow Caleb to rest.”
Tristian didn’t have any objections, but Benjamin felt uneasy.
Watching his sister so protective of another man made him very uncomfortable.
“Let’s go take a walk in the village,” Benjamin suggested, abruptly grabbing her wrist and leading her out, denying her any chance to be alone with Caleb.
Tristian trailed behind them, his gaze toward Chloe filled with curiosity.
After leaving Chloe, Caleb sat there blankly, staring at her departing figure as many unfamiliar memories forcibly surfaced in his mind.
“Ugh…” His headache was so severe that he had no choice but to return to his room and lie down.
Someone commented online: Is it just me, or does Caleb seem off? He looks like he’s being controlled.
Another commented: There was definitely something off about the water and medicine that Chloe had given him.
Someone questioned: Where’s the production team? Are they really not doing anything? There’s already been an incident.
Another typed: Did Gabrielle notice something? I felt there was more to her words than met the eye. Chloe acting so guilty definitely means she’s behind this.
The online community was in an uproar, their dissatisfaction with Chloe growing even stronger.
Gabrielle stood there, watching their departing figures before she turned to look at Nadia. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
Still shaken, Nadia shook her head. “I’m firte. He hadn’t really started squeezing. Why did he seem kind of violent? He seems

felt off, as if he had become someone else.
“He really is different now” Gabrielle suddenly spoke.
Before, she only suspected it, but now she was sure–Chloe had done something to Caleb.
The current Caleb was no longer the man he used to be. His whole mind was manipulated by Chloe to the point where he might even kall for her.
Therefore, Caleb was now a tool in the hands of Chloe.
If she wanted him to deal with someone, he wouldn’t hesitate to act.
“Forget them–let’s eat,” Gabrielle said softly, getting up to grab a fork.
The incident didn’t spoil their meal. Nadia, being easygoing, quickly forgot all about it and enjoyed her meal heartily. Seeing this. Brendan and Jennifer were able to quietly breathe a sigh of relief.
