Chapter 110
But if even this couldn’t convince Zoe, Henry knew he was out of options.
Henry thought Zoe wouldn’t agree, or maybe the amount wasn’t enough. He continued, “How about twenty–two percent? I can’t go any higher, I only have twenty–five percent of the shares.”
To his surprise, Zoe agreed very readily this time. She said. “Fine, deal.” Mercenaries had no resistance to the money that was handed to them on a silver platter.
It wasn’t about her initial refusal or sudden change of heart. For someone who had lived through hell, money was the answer to hunger, warmth, and survival itself.
If one didn’t believe it, go to the war zones in Southeast Emoreland and see how many orphans lose their lives forever because they couldn’t get a few dollars for food or a few lens of dollars for medical treatment
Zoe came from the battlefield and had been through a lot. When she was young and displaced to the war zone, she was also chased and beaten to the point of paralysis just to get a few dollars for food.
If it weren’t for a kind–hearted passerby who felt sorry for her and gave her a few dollars, Zoe would have died from an infected wound because she couldn’t afford anti–inflammatory medicine.
Zoe couldn’t be blamed for loving money without any disguise. She had seen a world for more brutal than self–esteem. In that world, people without money were worth less than a dog’s life.
Henry was unaware of these things. After bearing Zoe’s answer, he was stunned. He said, “What Did you agree?” He didn’t expect that what he thought would be a complicated issue could be solved with just a few dollars.
“Why A
Are you having second thoughts!” Zoe asked as she glanced sideways.
Henry–Clusia’s legendary racer–was practically vibrating. “No, I’m just so thrilled. But when can you hit the association with me to file your Information.” He rubbed his palms, grinning like a kid on Christmas
“Tomorrow,” Zoe said. After exchanging contact information with Henry, Zoe hailed a taxi and went straight home.
By midnight, the Evans residence had gone completely dark. No one noticed a swift figure darting through the streets like the wind
With a quick movement, Zor slipped into the military zone. She evaded all the surveillance and night guards in the camp and infiltrated the interior of the military base.
In front of the deserted training ground, Medusa had been waiting for a longtime. When she saw Zoe appear, she quickly stepped forward. She greeted Zoe, “Bou”
Zoe’s eyes darkened. She said, “Let’s get down to business”
Medusa said with a straight face, “Boss, I’ve been infiltrating here for a while now. As for Shawn’s schedule, it’s very regular. He’s either in the military camp or on his way back to it. There’s not a single woman around him.
“If we want to assassinate the target by going after Shawn’s woman, it’s probably impossible.”
Zor raised an eyebrow and asked, “Are you sure?” Initially, she and Medusa had intended to exploit Shawn’s relationships with women to carry out the assassination. But she hadn’t anticipated that Shawn would be entirely uninterested in women.
Medusa replied, “Absolutely. I’ve never seen a guy so monk–like. You wouldn’t believe it, women practically throw themselves at him, and he just brushes them off like they’re nothing.
“Worse still, when female soldiers confess their feelings to him, he punishes them by making them run dozens of miles. Some even end up crying and quitting the military altogether.
“Honestly, its like he’s completely uninterested in women. I’m starting to wonder is Shawn into guys!”
Medusa’s tone was unusually serious. Such remarks, if overheard in the camp, could stir up a storm.
Medusa sighed with a sense of regret. She added, “What a pity. Shawn is such a handsome man, but he’s gay. What a waste of his great physique and superhuman combat endurance.
“Lonly found out after infiltrating here that
Shawn’s
strength is not inferior to yours. This mission is going to be tough for you.”
Unbeknownst to Medusa, Zoe was already piecing together a new plan in her head. Zoe had never seen or experienced what Medusa had described.

The Shawn she had seen, even when she threw herself into his arms and teased him, still had a dark expression and a stiff posture like a virgin. But he never rejected or resisted her closeness.
Zoe thought, If I could make Shawn think I’m his woman, then I could catch him off guard and take him out. Sounds like the perfect plan.
