Candice’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Me?”
She shook her head. “I didn’t do anything.”
Wilson clicked his tongue. “I have no interest in your poor acting. Why don’t you apologize to Serena right now?”
Color drained from Candice’s face. At that moment, a towering figure appeared before her.
She immediately latched onto Justin’s sleeve as though holding onto her last string of hope. “Justin, I didn’t do it…”
Tears rolled down her cheek as she whined pitifully.
Justin stared at Wilson grimly. “Why are you giving my girlfriend a hard time in front of everyone?”
“Did I?” Wilson sneered. “I can’t be bothered to waste my time on your girlfriend. I would rather spend that time securing a few
major business deals. You think too highly of your girlfriend, Justin.”
Wilson went straight to the point. “There are security cameras everywhere. Well, the one near us is a little tilted, but I’m sure it
captured the incident. Why don’t we review the footage to confirm if Candice had deliberately shoved Lynn toward Serena?”
Lynn straightened up as well. “That’s true! Let’s check the security footage. I wasn’t planning to spill the wine on Serena!”
She would not be unfairly blamed.
At first, she thought someone had accidentally knocked into her, but listening to Wilson, it sounded like Candice had orchestrated everything. She vowed to reveal Candice’s true colors to Justin!
Candice clenched her fist. She couldn’t imagine going through the security footage in front of everyone. What if she was caught
on camera? She’d be cooked! Why had it played out in this way?
She had wanted to start trouble between Lynn and Serena by knocking into Lynn, hoping they could get into a fight, and for
Serena to be humiliated with wine stains on her dress.
Like they said, “kill two birds with one stone
Yet, Wilson had placed her in the center of the storm with just one sentence.
When she was deep in her thoughts, Wilson had already asked for the hall manager.
Soon, a man in a suit marched up to Wilson and whispered into his ear. He nodded. “Let’s do that.”
Candice was buckling under the pressure. Taking a step forward, she whispered into Lynn’s ear, “Ms. Campbell, I accidentally bumped into the person next to me when I was reaching out for something. But I can’t be sure if that was you.”
Lynn sounded furious. “Oh, so you were the one who bumped into me!”
Flustered by Lynn’s anger, Candice stepped back and held tightly onto Justin’s arm. She said meekly, “It was an accident…”

Lynn found the excuse rather ridiculous. “Why didn’t you own up just now? You’re only admitting it after Mr. Quade called to
review the security footage!”
Candice pursed her lips. “I was too shocked just now. Serena, I never thought you’d get into a fight with Ms. Campbell. You even
kicked her, didn’t you?”
Even at such a tense moment, Candice still hadn’t given up on stirring trouble.
How ironic! Serena couldn’t believe she had been defeated by a woman of Candice’s caliber.
Now, looking back, Justin–the man she had loved for many years–did not seem that special after all.
Serena stayed unfazed throughout the incident. She began, “Do not mislead everyone. Ultimately, I wouldn’t have kicked Lynn if
you hadn’t bumped into her. There wouldn’t have been a conflict in the first place. You’re responsible for everything that has
happened today.”
“But I didn’t bump into Ms. Campbell on purpose…” Tears threatened to roll down Candice’s face again. “I’m sorry, Serena. I
didn’t do it on purpose. It’s a huge misunderstanding.”
Serena snapped, “You know what the truth is. Since you’ve apologized, I do not want to dwell on this.”
“Ms. Judd, that’s very generous of you,” joked Wilson.
Then, he gently asked for her opinion, “Do you still need me to check the footage?”
_____“It’s fine. Things are hectic today. I don’t want to trouble the manager any further.”
Wilson revealed, “Alright. There’s no footage to be reviewed in the first place
anyway.”
