Feeling Serena’s dependence on him, Wilson couldn’t help but tighten his arms around her. “It’s okay. We’re leaving now.”
Meanwhile, Justin had finally arrived outside the door after tailing Wilson. Seeing Kayden, the others, and two imposing figures
stationed outside the room, he felt a surge of ominous feeling and urgency to head inside.
However, Kayden halted him. Justin’s gaze darkened as he roared, “Screw off! Where’s Serena?”
Kayden stayed silent and merely shot him a cold look, having no intention of stepping aside.
Justin’s fury was overflowing. “Step aside now, or you’ll regret it later!”
He was ready to strike when the door suddenly opened from the inside. With Serena in his arms, Wilson emerged from the room
and stepped out with wide strides.
His black suit enveloped Serena tightly, only half of her side profile visible. The pale skin of her cheek was marred with bruises
and fresh blood, making the scene all the more striking.
Justin felt his heart stop for a moment.
“You got
hurt?”
His voice made Serena pause for a moment before burying her face even deeper into Wilson’s chest
Justin walked over, halting Wilson. “Hand her over to me!”
Wilson didn’t speak, yet his eyes gleamed with an undeniable flash of danger and harshness.
Justin deepened his voice. “Serena is terrified right now. She needs me! I say, hand her over to me!”
His eyes never left her.
Over the years, Serena had always been capable and self–reliant by his side, calm and composed, never flustered in the face of challenges. He had never seen her as helpless and fragile as today.
This reminded him of when she first arrived at the Farrow residence. She was small and frail, always on the verge of tears. When
people bullied her, she didn’t resist; she just blinked those big, innocent eyes and cried.
It was during that time that he felt a deep sense of pity for her, a tenderness he could hardly contain. He stepped in, telling Joseph
and the others not to bully her.
It was all in the past; he had forgotten how she used to be a crybaby. But everything would be fine now because he would protect
her like he had in the past.
Justin’s tone softened greatly. “Serena, let me take you with me.”
Wilson lowered his head slightly at his words, looking at the woman in his arms. She seemed… conflicted..
After a pause, she slowly yet resolutely said, “Take me away… Please, Mr. Quade.”

Wilson held her in his arms, stepping firmly on the hallway carpet as he strode toward the outside. Behind them, Justin’s gaze
flashed with a hint of disbelief.
He stood there, frozen, watching Serena’s retreating figure. As he saw them disappear, a dull pain slowly surged in his chest.
She had actually rejected him.
Wilson took Serena to the hospital. She was in poor condition, and on the way, he kept her in his arms, letting her lean against his
chest.
The car was unusually quiet.
He hung his head low, gazing at the woman nestled in his embrace. The passing streetlights occasionally illuminated her delicate.
and small profile, giving her an almost fragile beauty.
He lowered his gaze, his heart tightening as he struggled to suppress the urge to kiss and comfort her.
In the driver’s seat, Sebastian glanced at the rearview mirror and secretly lamented, “Mr. Quade looks a lot like a love–struck fool
now
Of course, he would never voice his thoughts aloud.
