But to Roseanne, this seemed like Rosalie, now aware that she was just her substitute, was feeling ashamed and didn’t dare act so arrogantly in from of her anymore.
Roseanne masked her smugness, tucked her bangs, and said, “It was my fault for scraping your car. I misunderstood you. Ms. Talley in sorry Without Julian’s explanation, I wouldn’t have understood the local traffic rules.”
These few words seemed to be Roseanne showing off her close relationship with Julian, and Rosalie couldn’t help but laugh.
She couldn’t understand why Roseanne, so confident Julian still loved her, would come to show off these trivial things.
She thought, ‘Is it because showing off to a disregarded ex–wife gives her some satisfaction for her pathetic vanity?
“It was all a misunderstanding. Forget about it, Ms. Palmer. No need to dwell on it.” After saying this, Rosalie turned to leave, not wanting to waste time pretending to be polite with Roseanne.
Roseanne stopped her and said, “Ms. Talley, I’ll be a student at Hawthorne University next week. Can I have your contact info?”
Roseanne was putting on a good attitude, following the rule of not hitting a smiling face. Even though Rosalie didn’t like her, it would be rude to act too impolitely now.
Before Rosalie could speak, Roseanne said, “Julian told me that Apex Biotech is collaborating with Hawthorne University. Ms. Talley, you’re their contact! It’s a coincidence! I’m studying pharmacy, and Julian promised me an internship at Apex Biotech. I’m excited to learn from you there!”
Rosalie couldn’t help but give Roseanne a puzzled look. She thought, ‘Why does she keep talking so much about Julian?‘
It seemed like this couple was really back together, and Julian had told Roseanne everything.
Rosalie didn’t say much about that, though. She just replied, “No need to be polite. Since Ms. Palmer will be interning at Apex Biotech, there are many excellent pharmacists there who can teach you. I only visit occasionally, so you won’t learn much from me.”
Rosalie was speaking the truth, but Roseanne didn’t see it that way. Her smile dimmed a bit. “Ms. Talley, do you not like me? Are you still mad about our misunderstanding?”
Rosalie smiled, “No.”
“Then why are you refusing to teach me?” Roseanne looked hurt.
“Ms. Palmer, have you been overseas too long? Your understanding of English seems a bit off.” Rosalie raised an eyebrow. Though she was still smiling, it was clear she was starting to get impatient.
*First of all, I’m not an employee of Apex Biotech, so I can’t just show up in their lab. Second, even if I were an employee, I’m not obligated to teach you. This has nothing to do with whether I like you or not. Do you understand now?”
Roseanne looked at Rosalie, silent for two seconds, then sighed.
