Accidentally Pregnant 466

Chapter 466

Teresa felt awfulShe bought a bouquet and went to the hospital to visit the old woman. Seeing her lying in bed, frail and hooked up to ventilator Teresa couldn’t stop her tears from falling.

Sanford stood by her sidecompletely baffled as to why Teresa was crying so hard over someone she didn’t even know.

It was the first time Sanford had ever seen Teresa cry for an old lady who had nothing to do with her.

Suddenly, a sharp–looking middle–aged woman burst in, her emotions out of control as she pointed at Teresa, whose eyes were red from cryingWhat are you doing here? My mom ended up like this because of you!”

Sanford stepped in front of Teresa protectively. “This has nothing to do with her. The real driver was someone else.”

The woman let out a cold laugh. “Don’t think I don’t know. It was her and she was chasing after the driver who hit my mom.

“He was speeding to get away from her, and that’s why he hit my mom. At the end of the dayit’s all her fault. She’s the reason my mom got hurt.”

You’re out of your mind. Forget it. Let’s go,” Sanford said, trying to lead Teresa away, but the woman wouldn’t let them leave.

Her family members came over and pulled her back, scolding her for losing it and reminding her that Teresa wasn’t the one who caused the accident.

With nowhere else to vent her anger, the woman treated Teresa and Sanford like enemies. In a fit of rage, she grabbed cup of hot water from the table and threw it at Teresa’s face.

Sanford quickly raised his arm to shield Teresa. The hot water splashed onto his arm, burning him.

“Lady, that’s assault and you know it,” Teresa said.

“Who are you calling ‘lady‘? I didn’t even touch him!” the woman shot back.

Teresa was worried about Sanford. He just sighed and said, “Let’s go. Don’t waste your time on this nutcase.”

Teresa went with Sanford to get his injury checked out, and then took him out for a meal. After allhe got hurt protecting her.

Sanford tried to joke. “Good thing your face is still perfect. The world would be missing great beauty otherwise.”

But Teresa couldn’t even smile. “Maybe I’m the one to blame for all this,” she murmured.

Sanford said, “Don’t let that crazy woman mess with your head. Her mom’s accident has nothing to do with you. By the way, why were you crying today? It’s not like she’s your family.”

“Isn’t that old lady pitiful? She didn’t do anything wrong. She should be enjoying her retirement, but something like this happened. Just like my grandparents,” Teresa said softly.

Sanford looked confused. “What about your grandparents?”

Teresa shook her head and whispered, “They’re gone.

“You wanted to know why Jonathan and I got divorced, right?”

“Yeah, so why?” Sanford asked, suddenly interested.

“There was this one time when we were still married. Jonathan was away on business trip, and his mom came over just to pick a fight.

“I talked back, and she pointed at me and said, ‘This is the house my son paid for. If you don’t like it, go back to your own family,” Teresa spoke, and the tears she’d been holding back finally slipped down her face.

She told me to go back to my familyBut where was supposed to go?” Teresa let out bitter laughShe knew perfectly well had no family i toShe knew exactly how to hurt meand she went straight for it.”

“At that timeyou hadn’t reconnected with Jennifer yetrightBut what about your parentsthought you got along with your mom?” Sanford asked.

Teresa shook her head. “Both my parents had already remarried by then. I grew up with my grandparents and they were really good to meBut they died

in a fire.

“I had no family to go back toand Irene knew it. I didn’t dare stand up to her, because I had nowhere else to go!”

“So what about Jonathan? How did he react when he found out Irene told you to go back to your family?” Sanford asked.
