Chapter 10
My eyes were slightly tired.
I let out a breath, freed myself from his arms, and glanced at the plain ring on his left hand.
For a brief moment, I held his hand, intending to take the ring off his finger.
Kaiden curled his finger, resisting strongly.
I stared at him in silence.
Kaiden tensed up, “Fiona…”
Eventually, I pulled the ring off his finger with force.
I placed the plain ring back in its box and closed it.
I lifted my gaze to him and smiled. “Kaiden, let everything stay here.”
Kaiden gazed at me, his voice shaky as he spoke, “Fiona, do we really have no future together?”
“It’s too late.
“Kaiden, perhaps you never truly loved me.
“If you had, you wouldn’t have gone along with your family’s arrangement without a single protest. If you had loved me, you wouldn’t have hidden your true self from me all those years. Maybe at first, you were worried I would only be after your wealth, but as time

went on, you knew me better, yet you still chose to hide the truth. You never thought we could last, so you didn’t care enough to make any changes for me.”
Kaiden seized my hand, his voice filled with urgency. “But now I already have…”
I shook my head, my eyes steady.
“What if I hadn’t accidentally discovered your real identity?
“What am I to you? You’re married, yet you’re still seeing me?
“Kaiden, deep down, you must have wanted me to be your mistress, didn’t you?”
Kaiden’s face drained of color.
I let out a long breath, “Kaiden, I’ve never told you this officially
before.
“Let’s break up.”
The rain was pouring on Memorial Day
Elisa called to remind me to visit my parents‘ graves.
I agreed.
Then she said, “Fiona, if you truly like your boyfriend, bring him along so your parents can meet him and accept him as their son–in-law.”
For some reason, I didn’t cry much when I broke up with Kaiden.
But hearing Elisa’s words made the tears fall uncontrollably.

I cried without holding back.
The following day, I visited the cemetery.
Holding an umbrella, I stood before the familiar tombstone.
“Mom and Dad, I’m here to see you again.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.
“It’s just that my uncle and aunt keep pushing me to get married.
“I did have a boyfriend, but we recently broke up. If you’re waiting to meet my son–in–law, it’ll be a while.”
“Fiona, are you finished?”
In the distance, Nicholas ran over, holding an umbrella.
I was interrupted by him and turned around, asking, “How did you get here so quickly?”
Nicholas shrugged. “What else? After paying respects, I just need to say a few words. If they’re at peace, then. I’ll be at peace too. My grandparent’s loved me most. As long as they know I’m happy, that makes them happy as well.”
He tilted his head and asked, “Who are you honoring?”
I replied, “My parents.”
Nicholas paused for a moment, then immediately stood up straight and adjusted his collar.
He walked over to my parents‘ graves and gave a deep bow.

Chapter 10
“Mr. Gannon, Mrs. Gannon, don’t worry. I’ll make sure to look after Fiona!”
I was left speechless.
After bidding farewell to my parents, I quickly pulled Nicholas away.
As we were heading down the stairs, a sudden gust of wind swept through, parting the dark clouds a bit.
A shaft of light beamed down.
I turned around, sensing something.
The sunlight landed perfectly on my parents‘ tombstone.
It almost felt like two figures were smiling, saying, “You must be happy, our sweetheart.”
The end.
