Chapter 14
Elaine was sent back to the small village where Raina had grown up.
Lucian stayed close to me every day, hoping I’d forgive him.
As usual, he showed up at the Simpson’s residence after work. But this time, he brought papers with him.
“I know you resent me, but Raina and I truly loved each other. We’re engaged.”
I looked down, trying to steady my hands that were shaking with
excitement.
He gazed at me sincerely. “I’ll give Raina a good life and spend forever making things right. This agreement proves my commitment.
“Once it’s signed, everything I own will be hers.”
Lucian passed me the pen. I acted unsure for a moment before writing
my name.
He signed next and gave me the document. When I took it, he looked hopeful. “Can I see Raina now?”

her back. Just let me see her.”
He dropped to his knees once more, clutching my hand and pleading desperately.
I pulled my hand back coldly. “Raina has been dead for a long time.”
Lucian’s face turned pale, and his voice shook. “W–what? You’re just lying, right?”
I leaned back on the couch, crossing my legs.
“When you and Elaine were on a trip, Raina called you for help. You didn’t believe her and just hung up.”
Lucian seemed to remember something, and he swayed slightly.
“Kate had a miscarriage, bled out in front of Raina, and died. Raina died with her.
“You’re the reason she’s gone. What makes you think you have the right to ask for her?”
Lucian collapsed, staring blankly at the floor.
“But… I planned such a grand wedding for Raina. Why is she gone? I love her more than anything. Where is she?”
Lucian seemed to lose it, muttering to himself.
I turned to my maids. “Take him out of here.”
