Elise’s POV
As the tension mounted, the butler from Louis’s grandfather’s estate entered, arms loaded with documents.”
“Sir,” he began, his voice steady despite the gravity of the situation. “The results from the investigation into the car accident are in. The truck driver is a fugitive wanted for murder. He claims he doesn’t know why he drove into the villa area. He says it felt as though someone was controlling him, forcing him to crash into Sir Louis’s car.“}
The butler paused before continuing, “As for the wedding incident three days ago, the surveillance footage and investigation show that Sir Louis simply lost his balance and fell.”
Clearly overwhelmed by the news, Richard nearly fainted from anger. A servant rushed over with medicine to help him calm down.” Once Richard had regained some composure, he looked up at me, his voice strained, carrying a hint of desperation.”
“Elise, what will it take for you to let go of Louis?”

Louis’s POV
I had been out for what felt like forever. My head was fuzzy, and everything around me felt distant, as if I were hearing things from underwater. But the first thought that broke through the fog, the first thing I could make sense of, was Elise.”
I didn’t even know where I was, but the words came out of my mouth anyway.”
“Where’s Elise? I need to see her.”
It wasn’t a demand, just… a need.
Charlie, my assistant, paused for a moment before answering, his voice careful, as if trying to soften the blow.
“Sir Louis… she’s gone.“>
Gone?

I’d been out cold for who knows how long, and my mind was still foggy, struggling to catch up with reality.
“Gone?” I asked, my voice low, confused, still trying to piece it together. “I suffered such serious injuries, and she didn’t even stay to take care of me? Where does she think she’s going?”
My thoughts were all over the place, and my mind raced with confusion, anger, and an overwhelming need to see her.
“I don’t care where she is now–go bring her back to me! Go get her. Now!” I insisted.
Charlie was about to explain, but my grandfather stepped into the room before he could say another word.§
“Louis, my boy, you’re finally awake. What would I have told your parents if something had happened to you?“}
I tried to sit up, my body protesting every movement.
But as I looked down, I froze.
“My legs… what happened to my leg?“>
I couldn’t feel them.
They were just… gone.
My grandfather’s face softened, and I saw the sadness in his eyes before he even spoke.§
“Louis, your right leg was severely injured. Even after the hospital treated it, it got infected. To save your life, they had to amputate it.”
I couldn’t process it at first. My mind was still foggy, and this? This felt like a bad dream.
“No… no, that can’t be…”
I shook my head, desperately trying to make sense of it. “Grandpa, you’re joking, right? Tell me this is a joke!”
But he wasn’t. The reality hit harder than anything else.
“I’ll arrange for prosthetics, the best ones. You’ll stand again,” my grandfather added, trying to comfort me.
But I couldn’t focus on that. I could only focus on the fact that this wasn’t just a bad day. It was my new reality.§
I felt sick, my heart pounding.
“How did this happen?” I muttered.
I couldn’t accept it. I couldn’t believe it.
“Louis,
“Louis,” my grandfather said, his voice quieter now. “You’ve been through a lot. Let’s focus on getting you through this.”
I wasn’t ready to accept that.
Suddenly, the fog lifted enough for me to remember someone else.”
I turned to my assistant and roared, “Elise…Didn’t I tell you to find her? What are you still standing here for?!“}
Charlie looked at my grandfather for a moment, unsure.}
My grandfather gave him a silent nod, signaling him to leave the room.”
“She… she left, Louis. She left a month ago. No one knows where she went.”
My fists clenched, the

My body was trembling now, and the world felt like it was slipping out of control. I grabbed the nearest object and threw it across the room, the anger bubbling inside me like a storm I couldn’t stop.
“Why did you arrange this? Why didn’t you stop her, Grandfather?“}
He sighed helplessly.
“Because of the Jefferson family curse, Louis,” he said, his voice filled with resignation. “If you hadn’t divorced her, you would have died. initially, I didn’t believe it, but once the divorce papers were finalized, the hospital told me you had regained consciousness.“>
My blood ran cold. I couldn’t even wrap my mind around it.
“This is all a coincidence. Elise’s family has lied to us. It’s just a stupid curse to scare us,” I spat, shaking my head. “Elise’s mother is still in our hospital, right? Tell Elise if she doesn’t come back and see me, I’ll cut off her mom’s medication.”}
My grandfather’s expression wavered, and he paused before speaking again.}]
“Her mother is dead, Louis. The day you cut off her medication, she couldn’t hang on much longer. Didn’t you know?”
I froze. The world seemed to tilt around me, and my stomach dropped.
I couldn’t breathe.
“What?” I whispered, barely able to get the word out.
His eyes were full of sorrow as he looked at me.
“Louis, you have to let Elise go. And maybe… maybe you need to let yourself go too.”
Louis’s POVE
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
My face went pale as the words hit me.§
