It wasn’t entirely for the family’s reputation either. If the Baxters wanted to distance themselves and drag Layla through the mud, they’d have done so eagerly, especially since she was Logan’s wife. But they didn’t, likely because Ashton was intentionally lending a hand.

Meanwhile, at Robinson Residence, Keena’s mood brightened considerably after she watched the press conference.
When Layla and Logan returned, they saw Keena in the living room, instructing Maria to prepare a few extra dishes. Seeing this, Logan immediately took Layla’s hand. “Grandma, what brings you here?”

Logan never doubted the old lady who raised him, but Layla knew better. In her previous life, Keena had orchestrated her union with Logan by drugging the wine, a scheme she hadn’t revealed to Layla until it was too late. That was why Layla had avoided the wine tonight.
“Could I be overthinking this?” Layla muttered, puzzled after finding nothing in her search.
Late that night, she tossed and turned in bed, faintly hearing noises from downstairs.
