Chapter 16
Celia’s POV
The invitation feels so heavy in my hands.
A picture of Bianca and Soren, who hold each other with smiles, bums into my eyes.

The tips of my fingers graze over Soren’s name; the words are indented into the card stock and is filled with black ink, making the words pop.
My eyes focus on Bianca’s toothy smile and the way she rests her hand on his chest. Soren’s smile, on the other hand, is a thin line, the corner of his lips perked up ever so slightly.
Just by looking at the picture, I can tell that he was in inmense pain when they took it. There’s a slight strain in his eyes as grimace to his smile. It pains me to look at the photo.
well as a slight
I sigh and place the invitation back into my hospital locker. I close the metal door and look down at my feet, my body feeling heavier than
before.
Seeing them together and being so happy with one another saddens me. It is a reminder of what I will never have with Soren
It will never be his Luna bride nor will I walk down the aisle and find my way into his arms. The shame of being rejected by him has yet to
subside and the constant nagging comments from Bianca and her she–wolf Healer followers only add more fuel to the fire.
It tears my heart into a million shreds and I am unable to stitch the pieces back together.
Thankfully, though, I have been able to escape their prying gazes and unnecessary comments by shadowing Healer Anderson around the hospital.
He has shown me plenty of new methods and techniques that we will be using when we go to work on the former Luna’s treatment. He has helped me out a lot with how to go about stubbom patients as well as the ones who refuse to cooperate.
There is to be a meeting with a few other Healers to prepare for the meeting before we go to the former Luna
Upon entering the room, I spot Lily sitting to the side of Bianca, who points and laughs at Lily. She looks like she is on the verge of tears.
My heart breaks for her, trily.
I wouldn’t wish being Bianca’s subordinate upon anyone. Once Lily notices me, she leaves Blanca and rushes to the seat beside me, taking refuge in my aura.
“Are you okay?” I whisper, Lily nods and we watch as Healer Anderson enters the room and begins the meeting.
Lily and I pay close attention to what he’s saying, jotting down quick notes.
Bianca and her cronies don’t even notice. They are preoccupied with their praises of Blanca and her so–called skills in surgery.
“I wish I had a flawless record like you, Blanca!” One of them exclaims.
“Same her! And to think it was almost ruined because of Culia’s careless mistake,” another adds. The entire table turns to glare at me. I sigh and meet their gazes, my lips pressed into a thin line.
“Everyone! Calm down! I have already forgiven her, so you should drop it for my sale,” Bianca smugly smiles, tossing her long hair over her shoulder. They all fawn over her, their eyes sparkling from adoration.
“You are so magnanimous! You are too pure for the world!”
“You are too good for her! Oh, you are such a role model for the hospital and young girls who wish to become Healers as well!”
Lily snorts and I’m quick to elbow her in the side. She rolls her eyes at me and crosses her arms over her chest.
“That little injury on her hand had already healed by the time she was sent to the medical room. She really knows how to act!” Lily leans and speaks in a hushed whisper. I chuckle and over my mouth, trying to quiet my laughter
My gaze dritts back to Blanca and her table. She glares at me with her arms crossed over her chest. If looks could kill, I’d be dead right now. Healer Anderson clears his throat, capturing the room’s attention. He looks around and gathers his belongings before exiting the room, following the Alpha King’s guards who are here to take us to the former Luna.
We all fall into line and form into one big group, taking our tine along the path towards the lake
The Alpha King had ordered the construction of a lake villa, which sits in the middle of the lake, for the former Lana to take rest in. This way

nobody will bother her at the hospital and she can sleep uninterrupted and with no chaos surrounding her.
It’s admirable of him to do this for his mother. A bit overkill, but admirable nevertheless.
We step onto the boat after scanning our hospital badges
The boat rocks back and forth as we step on, causing small waves to form along the calm and soothing water. I look around, Lily sticking close to my side, as the boat begins to move away from the dock and towards the villa in the middle of the lake.
The scenery is gorgeous.
The lake is calm and the sun’s rays reflect off of the water, the light sparkling whenever a ripple rolls by. The lake is surrounded by endless evergreen trees.
They tower over the lake and cast shadows along the shores. Even at a glance, there are a few fish that swim by here and there, completely unbothered by the boat’s presence.
When the former Luna wakes up, she will be sure to awaken to a sight that is close to Heaven. She is one lucky woman, to have a son who loves her so much, even in sickness.
One by one, every Healer steps off the boat with the guard helping. I am the last one to exit, ensuring that Lily is stable on the dock, before I step off. I quietly thank the guard and rush to keep up with the group. I quickly fix my hair as we stop inside the villa

It’s warm and cozy, very comfortable. The fireplace is running and the former Luna lays in bed near the warmth. I notice enter, my cheeks heating.
I didn’t know he was going to be here…this complicates things, doesn’t it?
Bianca acts as if she owns the place. She tosses her bags and belongings onto nearby chairs, even kicking off her shoes to slide her feet into warm slippers. She really is pampered, isn’t she?
I move to Healer Anderson’s side, watching as Blanca greets Soren from the corner of my eye.
to me.
Healer Anderson takes the bag that I carry and pulls out glass vials with herbal remedies from the inside and he hands them to
I hold them and take a step back, keeping my head hung low as he whispers what to do to me.
I lift my head up.
My eyes meet Soren’s and I swallow a gasp that threatens to escape my mouth.
His brow furrows and he stands from his chair. He places his hands on his lips and narrows his gaze at me.
“Leave, Cella Soren says
What?”
Soren stares at me, his voice coldly, “You are not welcome here.”
