Chapter 5
In the past, I would have been thrilled if Dom had defended me like that.
Now? I couldn’t care less.
After Vanessa slammed the front door behind her, Dom approached me, reeking of whiskey and her Chanel No. 5 perfume. When he tried to pull me into a hug, I
stepped away.
He looked stunned. “Liv, last night was a misunderstanding.”
I laughed so hard I nearly choked. “A misunderstanding? I caught you in bed with your ‘childhood friend,‘ and you call that a misunderstanding? Next time you
cheat, maybe don’t text your mistress’s lingerie photos to your fiancée. You’re disgusting.”
Only then did Dom realize how I’d found them–those texts meant for Vanessa had
gone to me instead.
“I’m sorry,” he said, running his hands through his hair. “I admit I fucked up. But
didn’t you also spend the night with someone else? Let’s just call it even and move
on.”
Something in me snapped. “Don’t you dare compare us. You’ve been cheating for months. I had one night of payback.”
I slapped him hard across the face. The crack echoed through the room as his head snapped to the side, a drop of blood appearing on his lower lip.
In an instant, he grabbed me from behind, pinning my arms to my sides. I struggled against him, but he was too strong.
“Let me go, you asshole!”
“No,” he said, his voice breaking. “Liv, I can’t lose you. I need you. We can fix this.” I stopped struggling and turned to face him. “Fix what? You’re terrible in bed. You
can’t satisfy me. Is that reason enough to break up?”
The hurt in his eyes gave me a sick satisfaction.
After Vanessa’s dramatic exit, Dom followed me around the house like a lost puppy. When I went to bed, he came too, locking the bedroom door behind him.
“I want to make it up to you,” he whispered, his hands already sliding under my
shirt.

“Don’t make me sick,” I pushed him away.
That’s when Dom’s nice–guy act disappeared completely. Despite his drunken state, he was still stronger than me. Before I could react, he grabbed my wrists and pressed me down.
“You want excitement, right? That’s what this is about?” His eyes were dark, unrecognizable. “I’ll give you what you want. After eight years, I know exactly what you need. You’ve always dreamed of being Mrs. Reid, right? Fine. I’ll make it
official.”
“Really?” I asked, making my voice small and vulnerable. I tugged at his shirt with my bound hands. “When will you marry me?”
Dom smiled triumphantly. He thought he’d won. He was certain I couldn’t leave
him.
Little did he know, I was already plotting his complete destruction.
