Chapter 56
Deborah was startled.
This was the pavilion–quite a distance from the hall. They hadn’t been speaking loudly, yet Damian had heard everything loud and clear.
She quickly closed her book and walked over. “Your Highness, I just happened to-”
“Damian, who’s come to see you so late at night?” A graceful figure stepped out from the side hall and stopped beside Damian.
As she spotted Deborah approaching, Luisa’s eyes narrowed, her expression clearly unfriendly.
“Princess Deborah, you are a married woman. Don’t you think it’s inappropriate to visit Damian in the middle of the night?” she asked.
Deborah replied coolly, “There’s just something I wanted to discuss with His Highness. What’s so improper about that?”
Luisa’s expression soured further. “Damian is about to choose a wife. If his future wife saw him with another woman at this hour…”
“If you are so concerned about appearances, then what are you doing here at this hour? If my future sister–in–law saw this, I’m sure she wouldn’t be happy either.”
You-!”
“Lady Luisa, if you’re really so worried about upsetting her, then please leave Prince Damian’s residence immediately.”
Deborah thought, ‘Hasn’t Emily already said I am practically half the ladyof this household? Protecting the dignity of the future princess is part of my role now.’
“You! How dare you say that-” Luisa’s face flushed with anger. She turned to Damian, trying to appeal to him with a pout. “Damian, did you hear what she just said? She’s being so mean to me!”
Damian’s face remained blank. He said nothing.
Deborah took another step forward. “Lady Luisa, as a noblewoman, you should try not to disgrace your family’s name.”
She turned slightly. “Thomas, see our guest out.”
Thomas stepped forward without hesitation. “Lady Luisa, this way, please.”
Luisa stomped her foot in frustration. “Damian, are you really not going to say anything?”
“Matters of the household are handled by Princess Deborah,” Damian replied calmly. “What would you have me say?”
“But you know I’m one of the top candidates to become your wife! I-”
“You are?” Damian raised a brow. “When did I ever say that?”
“My aunt-”
“Then go marry your aunt. What are you doing throwing a tantrum in my residence?”
“I—I didn’t mean it like that…” Luisa realized she’d misspoken and tried to explain.
But Damian had already turned away, waving her off as he walked back into the side hall, ignoring her completely.
“Damian…” Luisa tried to follow him.
A figure suddenly appeared in front of her–Thomas blocked her path. “Lady Luisa, please.”
“Thomas, I still have something to say-”
“His Highness doesn’t wish to see you. If you have something to say, perhaps take it up with Her Majesty the queen.”
Thomas stepped forward slightly.
The force of his internal energy made Luisa instinctively stumble back–two full steps, right onto the stone steps behind her.
As Deborah passed by, Luisa hissed, “You wretched woman–I won’t let this go!”

Chapter 56
And with that, she stormed off.
Deborah could only sigh. She thought, ‘The one who stirs the pot first is to blame. If you hadn’t come looking for trouble, I wouldn’t have said a word.
‘Who doesn’t want a quiet life? I truly have no interest in getting involved in Damian’s wife choosing drama.
As she entered the hall, she spotted Damian seated calmly, still sipping tea despite the late hour.
Deborah was just about to speak–when she suddenly noticed that there were two other young women in the room.
