Cynthia was surrounded by a group of people clinking glasses and making toasts.

Given what she knew about Cynthia, once that woman got into party mode, there was no way she’d remember Briar existed for at least a couple of

Not that Briar cared. Cynthia rarely came to Plimond City, and if Briar didn’t show up to support her, the woman would absolutely throw a dramatic fit about it.
Meanwhile, wasters at events like this were pros at reading the room

So it didn’t take long after Briar sat down for a server to walk over and asked what

“Water” The server blinked in disbelief, like he’d misheard her.

“Right.. sure.” The server quickly turned to get her a glass

Just then, a shocked voice rang out “Briar? You’re back in the country! What are you doing here?”
Briar looked up–ran into someone she knew.
The young man standing in front of her was dressed super casually white tee, jeans, a loose jacket over it, and sneakers.
He stood out like a sore thumb next to all the dolled–up wannabe celebrities in the room.
But with a face that good–looking–basically flawless–it was hard in focus on what he was wearing.
“Hey, Ronan. What a coincidence. Briar spoke lazily.
Come to think of it, the only person in the Shepherd family who had never shown her any malice was this so–called older brother.
Roman was six years older than her. When she returned to the country four years ago, he was already making a name for himself in the entertainment industry. He’d only managed to show up at home briefly that day.
A few months later, Jack, their grandfather, got seriously ill. As the eldest son of the Shepherd family, Ronan gave up his inheritance rights without hesiuation
Jack had held 282 of the company shares. Ten percent went to Martin, eighteen to Briar. Ronan didn’t take a dime.
Right now, Ronan was staring at Briar, furious. “What the hell are you doing in a place like this?”
Being in the industry, Ronan knew all too well what these glamorous guys and girls were really here for
Ronan thought. What good could come of Briar, a teenage girl, being at a place like this!
‘She must’ve been tricked into coming! Thank God I see her. Otherwise, with how pretty she is, she’ll definitely end up getting taken advantage of
“What? You can come here, but I can’t?” Briar Jeaned back on the couch, raising an eyebrow. “Since when do you get to control that?”
Sure, Ronan had never done her wrong–but that was it. Briar had never felt any real bond with him.
At best, they were just familiar strangers.
But when Ronan heard her say that, a vein actually popped on his forehead.
Ronan reached out and grabbed her wrist. “Come home with me. Do Mom and Dad even know you’re here? Aren’t they supposed to be watching you?”
Caught off guard, Briar was yanked off the couch. “Let go of met” she said.

Briar shook his hand off easily: “Stay out of it”
“You-“Ronan forced himself to calm down. “You’re still a kid. There’s a lot you don’t understand. Just listen to me and come home
“Oh my god, are you serious?” Briar snapped. I’m out with friends, and you’re losing your mind over it?”
Ronan doubled down, his voice firm. “I don’t care about anything else right now You’re coming home with me!”
Just then, Elijah–Ronan’s agent–noticed the commotion and rushed over “What’s going on?” he asked.
Elijah had just asked the question when his eyes landed on Briar’s stunning face.
With his years of experience in the industry, Elijah could tell right away–if Briar debuted, she’d blow up. She could easily match Ronan, if not
outshine him.
But Elijah’s expression quickly changed. “Wait who is she?”
‘Could she be some girl Ronan is secretly involved with? Elijah thought.
That’d be a PR disaster. Dating rumors were deadly for big–name stars. One leak and Ronan’s whole career would tank.

Hearing that, Elijah nearly jumped in place. “Are you trying to kill me? Ms. Davidson is already here.
“If you ditch now, your name’s gonna be wiped clean off the entertainment map by tomorrow!
“Ms. Davidson?” Briar’s eyes lit up with curiosity.

Ronan’s face twisted. He didn’t say no, but he clearly hated the idea.

“Showing your face could really help your career! You’re not getting any younger. If you miss out on Director Walsh’s film, it’s gonna be hard to pivot later.”
Ronan still said nothing. He hated the idea of sucking up to someone like that, but he also knew how important the role was
Meanwhile, hearing them talk about Cynthia actually made Briar interested. She folded her arms and watched with amusement.
Briar had never noticed before that Ronan was actually signed by Cynthia’s company
Right at that moment, Cynthia finally wandered back, holding a glass of wine.
When Cynthia saw a good–looking guy standing next to Briar, her expression instantly turned playful.
Cynthia teased. “Well, well, girl! You’ve got the nerve to call me out for playing matchmaker, and now look at you–you’ve already found someone you like?
Elijah thought. Wait–why does Ronan’s sister seem so familiar with Ms. Davidson?”
In reality, Cynthia barely handled anything herself when it came to her businesses in Limond City
Cynthia didn’t know the first thing about running a company:

With that, Cynthia reached for a glass and a bottle, ready to mix drinks.
