Chapter 7
“Alpha Dolphus and his Luna have invited you and Zeeva to the mating banquet of their son. Ricky in seven days. Raul said, I was conflicted.
Ricky was older than me, but due to his parent’s involvement in pack affairs and his not finding his destined mate, his parents were trying to help
him find his mate or choose one.
ky had his parents directing him every step of
Unlike my parents, who traveled abroad to avoid involvement in the management of the pack. Ricky had the way
The duration of the invite was short. Don’t get me wrong. This was the regular timeline given to attend such ceremonies, but the only problem here was the fact that I could not attend with Zeeva, and I doubted Luna Lovette would want to appear in public with me.
It was hard to understand how my life took such a sharp turn within a short space of time, but the solution lay with me.
“Don’t accept the invitation yet, I informed Raul. He looked displeased, explaining why.
“Alpha Dolphus has great respect for you, and Ricky is also your good friend,” he reminded me as if I needed it.
Having my interest at heart was his hallmark, but how could be understand what I was going through when his mate rejected him for a mere
warrior!
Her reasons were justified; she did not want to shoulder the responsibilities of pack leadership but to live a simple life.
I could not assure her there wouldn’t be work for her when Raul has been working so hard. What he needed was a supportive mate and not a lazy
ODE.
He informed me about how amazing the mate bond was and how painful the rejection felt. I hoped strongly that he would find a better person.
“That is true, but I can’t show up alone, can I?” I asked, regretting doing so from the response he gave me.
“Maybe you can make it your last appearance with Zeeya since all the she–wolves without mates would attend, same as us Alphas and werewolves who haven’t found their mates
That would be the worst mistake of my life. Breaking up was strong enough to cause great damage, so how could I make such a m
mockery of her?
“I can’t make an appearance with Zeeva because I’m breaking up with her tomorrow, and neither can I attend with Luna Lovette. With her pregnancy, I don’t want to expose her.”
-Does it mean
you won’t have a wedding?” Raul asked, reminding me of Luna Lovette’s harsh words.
“Just stop it, Raul. On second thought, accept the invitation and go on my behalf. Perhaps, you might just find your second chance mate”
I hastened up the stairs after saying that, knowing he wasn’t satisfied with my responses, but I could also not give what I did not have. Making a promise I won’t be able to keep was not my style.
That was the reason why breaking up was so painful for me, as it was already hard for meto smoothen things with Luna Lovette. All she wanted was the pup just like me, but she won’t give it to me, and I won’t let her have it too.
I might be selfish, but so was she. My sleep was terrible, and I was sweating through the night like a pregnant fish despite the air conditioner.
Jaguar has been sad as well. I know how much he loves Zeeva but can’t stay away from our pup.
‘Can’t we have both of then?‘ He asked. This was the first time he broke the silence after our encounter with Luna Lovette.
That will be a disaster, I pointed out. I would rather be alone on a rooftop than be with two women. That was gross disrespect to either of them, and that was if they even agreed to it
I left the park house before the breaking of dawn due to my sleeplessness. I have never been dishonest and was not going to start now.
At the gate of the northern park, I was saddened when the gates were opened. I knew that Zeeva must have been alerted by now, and it was obvious from the way she enduraced me when I arrived.
It was as if she had just woken from sleep and was still in her pajamas. Glad it wasn’t transparent, I forced a smile, the heaviness of my visit weighing on me.
Jaguar was happy at the mere sight of her, and the news broke my heart, more than it would break hers, but I was determined to do this for the sake of my pup. Zeeva tried to kiss me, but I turned my head away
Knowing the reason, she was not offended but was still all over me. “Zeeva, call your father”

I could feel Jaguar distancing himself, most probably because he did not want to get hurt by the break.
It was strange how attracted we were to Zeeva, despite her not being our destined mate. It was almost as if we were feeling the bond, but Raul 20 confirmed that as long as the sight of her does not drive me so crazy to mate with her, then she isn’t my destined mate.
That was our reason for choosing her among all the she wolves because just like the others, I had done everything to search for my mate, including having a mating banquet.
at my request.
I tried my best to be calm about the whole thing, but Zeeva still discerned something amiss and did not seem happy at
“Aren’t you here to see me? Why do you want me e to call my dad?”
I did not think it would be good for me to break the news to her to inform her father, so I insisted. “I am, but he also has to be here.
She seemed to be in deep thought but suddenly agreed. “Okay” She ran upstairs, and I made myself comfortable on the sofa.
“Alpha Kodak, what a pleasant surprise?” I heard her father say
from
up the stairs.
I rose to my feet, hastened, and gave him a firm handshake. “I carry a matter of urgency that would not allow me to sleep.”
His expression turned serious. “Please have a seat. What should I offer your Tea? Coffee? I know you don’t like early breakfast”
I shook my head. This was the first time I visited him so early, so his questions were well understood.
Without wasting time, I decided to delve into the matter. “My heart is too heavy for anything. I’d rather hit the nail on the head”
Being an experienced Alpha, he grew suspicious, his expression curious as I dropped a hint
“Alpha Marrock, I am not a man who goes back on my words, but for the first time, I have to.”
I could feel the change in the atmosphere when he asked me. “Alpha Kodak, what are you talking about?”
I was glad Zeeva had not accompanied him, though I felt strongly she would be eavesdropping on our conversation.
It was right after the question that I realized the mistake in my plan. It wouldn’t be nice for me to mention Luna Lovette carrying my child, so I had
to find another excuse.
Honesty was my hallmark, but it won’t protect the mother of my pup. Alpha Marrock was nice to me because of his daughter, and I knew that breaking off the engagement would be tantamount to war
“I cheated on your daughter and can’t face her. I’m very sorry but have to break off the engagement.”
“Kody, what did you say?” Zeeva was screaming from the top of the stairs, waking the members of the packhouse, including her mother, the terrible one, before I could register the expression on the face of her father…
