Chapter 8
Alpha Kodak’s POV
Alpha Kodak, do you want to bring shame to our family?” Zeeva’s mother, Anya, began to lash out, the atmospheric pressure was hot
I could smell the fear and disappointment around me, but all that mattered to me now was my pap
I’m very sorry, Luna Anya, but your daughter deserves someone better.” I thought that by tainting myself as a cheater, they would be glad to get rid of someone like me, but it was far from that
This was the lowest level I’d ever gone for anyone, but I was doing it all for my pup, and yet, I was beginning to understand that I wasn’t the only selfish one.
All that mattered to Zeeva’s parents was the prestige of their daughter’s marriage to me and the unity of our packs. That mattered to me before, but things changed yesterday, including my priorities.
“Alpha Kodak, your interest in another woman for sexual satisfaction is not strange. It happens to anyone, and it’s not a serious matter.” Alpha Marrock said. I was not surprised. There was news about his young days.
Alpha Marrock was not faithful to the mate bond in the beginning, but I have no idea how he changed because most Alphas don’t. “We don’t have jo break off the engagement,” he added to my stun, but Zeeva was unhappy.
“Countless times. I tried to give you myself, but you always pushed me away, so how could you do it with someone else?” She asked. This was the first time I saw her without that sweet smile of hers, and it wasn’t something pleasant.
However, I was determined to not drop any hint concerning Luna Lovette. “That is why you deserve someone better. I’m a horrible person, Zeeva
Thinking that 1 succeeded in getting her to the point of hating me, she proved me wrong from the way her anger disappeared with a blink, her voice softening with it
“No. If you were horrible, you would have kept it to yourself. I forgive you.” She wrapped both of her hands around my left palm, and I could feel the love I had for her burning in my chest.
Quickly. I pulled my hand away. No one could make me do this, except my pup. “I don’t need your forgiveness. I want you to have someone better”
Her anger exploded once more, making me wonder how she was able to switch her mood so fast,
“But I don’t want anyone else. You are all I want”

This was more difficult than I thought or expected it to be. Nevertheless, I stood my ground. “I’m sorry, but my conscience would not allow me. I have to go.
1 merely reached the door when she screamed my name, and I turned to see the tears streaming down her cheeks, my heart was slowly sinking with
“Kody, are
are you really calling off the engagement? I’ve been invited to Alpha Ricky’s mating ceremony with you.”
I was not surprised. We weren’t from the same pack and had not gotten married yet, so the invitation went out separately
Still, it did not matter to me as much as my pup. “Raul is going on my behalf. You can go with him if you want
No matter how I tried to get her angry at me, it was not working. I didn’t know what to call whatever she felt for me.
We loved each other, but I was not the kind of man who would take it lightly if I heard that my fapere had someone else in her bed. She explained.
Kody, I don’t believe that you cheated on me. Please tell me the truth. Did you grow out of love for me?”
The softness of her voice, blended with the innocence in her eyes, only complicated things, and for a moment, I almost changed my mind to go by Luna Lovette’s suggestions, bus,
No. I still love you, but I have to do the right thing. I’m very sorry.” Tapologized sincerely, about to leave when her father finally spoke up.
He had been too quiet after my breaking the news, and I felt relieved that he finally spoke up, rather than keeping it in.
“Kody, you can’t put our family to shame and just walk away,” Alpha Marrock said coldly. I stared him in the eyes. It seemed to me that he wanted war, but I still asked him.
“So, what do
lo you want from me?” I wasn’t afraid of him. All I had for him was respect, but if he tried to attack my pack, then that would turn us imo

He began to state his conditions as I felt the corner of my lips lift disdainfully. What I was doing was wrong, considering the fact that we were already publicly engaged.
That was the only reason for considering the terms put before me, as I was already thinking of ways to spread the information among the werewolf councils without making it an embarrassing affair
“Go ahead with the marriage plans as if nothing happened, or allow me to whip you a hundred strokes without your wolf,”
“And if I don’t adhere to any of the options, then what happens!” He was about to answer, as if already expecting the question when 1 added, “And what if I can find a way to send the message about the break of our engagement across without anyone making fun of your daughter!”
I wasn’t unfeeling and wanted to remain Zeeva’s honor when breaking the news, but her father’s stand left a bitter taste in my mouth.
War. Then be prepared for war. I know the strength of your pack, but are your parents aware of your reason for inviting a war?”
I removed my coat to his stun, followed by my shirt, and then my undershirt. “My wall already distanced himself before I broke the news. I will take the hundred whips, but remember, I will not be held responsible for whatever happens when news about me and another woman travels around the packs,”
Zeeva might be an Alpha’s daughter, but she would not be able to compare with Luna Lovelie. My marriage with her might shake the northern pack, even if it was a contract and I didn’t want that in the beginning, but he was leaving me with no choice.
The shock sitting on their faces was unexpected. I wonder if they expected me to just give in like that when they wanted to whip me like a common criminal. Taking the whip without one’s wolf was a punishment tantamount to banishment, meted out to only criminals.
If I take the whip without my wolf, then the mark would permanently remain, but it seemed Alpha Marrock’s mind was already made up.
“Asher, bring a whip, he called out to his best warrior. I refused to flinch. Pain to me as an Alpha was nothing, even if it was a disgraceful one. But | hoped the northern pack would be ready for what was coming after this.

“Dad please, don’t do it Zeeva was on her knees, pleading with her father. “Give him time to think it through. He doesn’t mean it,” She pleading for me, it warmed my cold heart, but I couldn’t go back on my word,
Luna Lovette’s advice flashed in my mind, but I knew Zeeva better. She was not mature enough to handle such matters and would inform whoever cared to listen. Even Luna Lovette’s life might be in danger because of it
“You better take your pound of flesh now because this is the last you will see me in this pack.” My voice lacked any form of warmth or remorse, as all I wanted was to get it over with.
I watched as confusion blurred their eyes. “Marrock please, let me tell you something first” Luna Anya suddenly said. I wanted to stop them, but then, I had already given my conditions, so I waited until their return, surprised by the outcome of their meeting.
