Chapter 47
At those words, Briar’s smile faded slightly.
But right after, she put on an even brighter smile.
Briar blinked her starry eyes at Cyrus and said with a smirk. “Well then, why don’t you just arrest me with that surveillance footage!”
“Surveillancer Briar scoffed inwardly.
If I could get caught on
on camera for something this trivial, I would’ve been dead long ago!
Briar thought with a smirk, ‘Cyrus is obviously just bluffing!
Briar couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
She knew Cymas never truly tasted her. So why this sudden change?
Just as expected, after staring at Briar for a long moment, Cynus casually tossed two documents onto the table in front of her.
The Supervision Department agents conducted an overseas background check a few days ago. Most of the information contradicts the original Jecords,” he said.
“So?” Briar scoffed.
Briar picked up the two documents and skimmed through them perfunctorily. Her expression faltered for just a moment before regaining its usual composure
She sat down, fished a lollipop out of her pocket, and leisurely unwrapped it as if she didn’t have a care in the world.
Briar scoffed. “It’s your business, What’s that got to do with me?”
Cyrus asked, “Where were you this July and August?”
Briar rolled her eyes. “Come on, it was summer break! What else would I be doing bur vacationing?”
Cynis pressed on “Where exactly did you go on vacation?”
Brian just are saying nothing
Cyrus questioned, “During your years in Wherein region, for nearly half of each year, we couldn’t track your whereabouts.
With the Supervision Department’s resources, uncovering Briar’s true identity
But determining whether someone had left traces of existence in a particular place? That was much simpler.
- s. Where exactly did you
Ever, if they couldn’t track down where Briar had gone, one thing was certain that she definitely hadn’t been living there all along.
Briar lounged on the sofa, drowsing her legs with a derisive chuckle.
“Seriously, dude… Ever think your a
agents just did a half–assed job! If they can’t find anything, tell them to keep digging. Why come ask me?” Briar thought to herself, ‘How naive can he be? He actually thinks I’d answer a question like that‘
“Tell him I’m the Black Mamba from the Streze region she thought, scoffing What a joker
Cyrus didn’t press further. Instead, he said quietly, “Like I told you before, Max Shepherd, I expect you to play by the rules while you’re in Cordaland. Or..!
“Or what?” Briar scoffed, “Send me to Wikato Prisont That’s funny. Since when can the Supervision Department arrest a regular student without
Cause!”
With that, Beiar crunched down on the lollipop and tossed the stick into the trash without a second thought
“Still dark on, and I’m done playing your game, Bye.” Briar said.
Just as Briar was about to reach the door, Cyrus’s voice cut through the air behind her.
“Tonigla’s prison break–those people had Supervision Department badges:
Brias paused mid–step and meered, “And?”
Chapter 47
Want to arrest me Briar sneered. ‘Got any proof?
Cyrus said nothing simply watching as Briar walked away.
He knew she was no saint.
Cynur’s gaze dimmed as he looked once more at the documents on the desk.
After all, she was just a teenage girl
Ento walked in from outside, eyeing Cyrus. “Cyrus, you actually suspect Briar?”
“It’s not just suspicion,” Cyrus said. “She is involved in this case”
“Then you…” Enzo trailed off.
Cyrus sighed and waved his hand. “Let it go. We’re leaving”
Enzo had never seen Cyrus look like this before, which genuinely startled him.
He walked over and instinctively glanced at the documents on the desk, his face froze in shock.
These files were even more detailed, yet far more disturbing than anything they had uncovered before.
They even included testimonies from members of a dismantled international large–scale illegal organ trafficking syndicate.
On the surface, Briar seemed like a spoiled brat
Just by looking at her, no one would ever guess she had such a dark past
Briar stepped out of the office, her fingers tightening slightly as her expression turned cold.
Damnit! Having all my secrets laid bare like that feels absolutely shitty!” she cursed inwardly.
She tied her head back, gazing at the dim morning sky. For just a fleeting moment, an unexpected pang of sorrow gripped her
But soon enough, Briar pulled herself together and, with a spring in her step, returned to her class
“Briar, what’s wrong? What did the instructor want with you just now!” Mae asked with concern as soon as she saw Briar retur
Briar arched a brow and casually spun a tale.
“Oh you know, I’m just that good. They want to recruit me” she said.
Marse
s eyes instantly lit up, her face beaming with admiration “Wow, really? Briar, you’re incredibler
Ever since the boot camp began, Briar’s performance had been so outstanding that in Mye’s eyes, she was practically a demigod. So of course Mat believed every word Briar said without a doubt.
Rhea sighed helplessly and said, “Don’t listen to her DOEKDIC”
What an airhead, she thought. “She can’t even tell when Briar’s pulling her leg. Sillyt
Mae still couldn’t figure out what Briar was up to, but she decided not to ask any more questions
By then, the sun was up.
The instructors at the base clearly had no intention of going easy on students dragged out of bed at dawn. Without mercy, they promptly marched their classes out for morning drills.
Briar narrowed her eyes to the figure in the wheelchair not far away.
Cyrus met her gaze, unflinching
Ashe ran up to
to Cyrus, Briar gave him the finger.
“Briar, what the hell are you doing? barked Ethan, who had been watching her closely.
Briar replied with feigned innocence, Just admiring the beauty of my middle finger:
Ethan was left speechless
Meanwhile, outside the boot camp, a lean middle–aged man followed the base commander inside

“Thank you for accommodating us this time, the director, Spencer Walsh said.
The commander waved it off. “No need for formalities, Director Walsh Just remember–no photography inside the boot camp.”
“Sure, sure.” Spencer replied.
The commander asked, “Excuse me, director, may I ask what kind of film you’re shooting and whether you’re looking to cast someone from these freshmen!”
Spencer smiled and said. “It’s a historical epic featuring a female general, We’ve been preparing this film for two years but still haven’t found the right actress. I heard you’re running a boot camp here, so I thought I’d come by and see if I might get lucky.”
“I see the commander said
Spencer strode inside. As he entered the boot camp, he immediately spotted a group of students practicing marksmanship at the shooting range
His upcoming film “The Empire,” was his passion project years in the making, with every role cast with meticulous care.
Most of the main cast had been finalized, but the second female lead remained uncast. Unable to find a suitable candidate, he decided to scout among university students for a young woman with a commanding presence.
These are freshmen are Limond University’s performing arts majors. Today they’re having marksmanship training, and actually, several of them
ready have some experience with firearms..
The commander of the boot camp explained the day’s schedule to Spencer
Spencer’s gaze remained fixed on the group of freshmen
Suddenly, his eyes landed on a girl who stood out from the crowd.
While everyone else was doing standard marksmanship drills, she alone had a sandbag hanging from the barrel of her rifle!
Spencer couldn’t help but ask, “Who’s that girl over there?” Instantly, his curiosity was piqued.
Spencer watched as the commander looked over and spotted a girl standing out from the rest–she was holding her rifle steady, a heavy sandbag dangling from the barrel.
With everyone watching, she coolly raised her weapon and fired several shots is quick succession–cach one striking dead center.
“Oh, she?” The commander smiled and said, “That’s Briar. She’s quite exceptional–exceptionally gifted with some prior training. But she’s young and a bit too proud for her own good, a real handful who still needs some straightening out”
Hearing this, Spencer was taken aback
For a mere trainee to cam such high praise from the commander, she must be truly exceptional
From the sound of it, the base commander seemed interested in bringing this young woman into the military.
