“My daughter is not unwanted,” Madam Garza snapped coldly. “If you don’t want the child in her belly, then we won’t keep it. Don’t think the Garza family revolves around you.“}
She pulled Casey tightly into her arms and whispered, “Sweetheart, we can always have another child, but we mustn’t let this one chain us down for life.”
In the end, Casey gave in.§
With trembling steps, she walked toward the operating room.§
“No, you can’t!” My mother screamed. “That’s our grandson! Casey, I know it’s Martin who hurt you, but please–have the baby! We’ll raise it, I promise!“}
My parents tried to push past me to stop her, but I stood in their way.
Infuriated, they lashed out–fists and kicks rained down on me.
But held my ground.§
Archie did too.
Thirty minutes later, Casey came limping out.
She clutched her abdomen, pale and weak, but her gaze was full of longing as she looked at me.”
“Martin… I did as you asked. The baby is gone. Can we… still be together?“}
I want to marry you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Can we…”
No.” I refused as I looked her straight in the eyes and continued coldly, “I will never marry you. I will never have children with you.“>
Her expression shattered.§
Blood began to trickle from the corner of her lips.
“How could you treat me like this? Why, Martin? We grew up together. I’ve loved you for so long–why did your heart change so suddenly? Just tell me why!”
She became so agitated that her half–healed wounds tore open again.”
Then, her body swayed–and she fainted on the spot.
At that moment, Onie suddenly burst through the crowd.
He rushed up to me, nudging against me anxiously, his breathing was ragged, letting out distressed whimpers.
Someone from the crowd cried out in shock, “Wait… is that dog crying? Look! It’s got tears in its eyes!”
Holy crap, you’re right. It’s really crying! What kind of dog does that? Is it possessed or something?”
“Could it be some sort of spirit beast? Maybe that dog put a curse on its owner!”
As the murmurs grew louder, people around us began pulling out their phones to record.
I quickly stepped in front of Onie, shielding him from the cameras.
“That’s enough! He’s just a dog–a dog! Leave him alone!“>
“Ha! Just a dog?” someone spat. “It’s clearly some evil spirit. How else could it brainwash you into not marrying my sister and making her abort her baby?“>
Jaylen shoved his way through the crowd and, in full view of everyone, held up a video.
The footage showed me kissing Onie goodbye before leaving the house, whispering in his ear while we walked, even sleeping on the same bed at night.
Most damning of all was the way I looked at him–gentle, affectionate, and filled with emotion.
Gaze that could easily be mistaken for someone in love.”
Normally, these would be harmless moments between a pet owner and their dog.
But after everything that had happened, and my unhinged behavior, the context twisted those images into something unnatural.
“This dog is a curse,” Jaylen said coldly. “Uncle Sergio, Aunt Helen, if you ask me, just kill that thing. Kill it, and maybe Martin will return to normal.”
At his signal, more than ten bodyguards emerged behind him.
They fanned out quickly, eyes locked onto Onie like a pack of hunters closing in.
My parents already shaken–pointed at the dog in rage.
“Kill that damned beast! It has bewitched our son! Who knows what else it’ll ruin if we let it live?“}
I immediately stepped in front of Onie, arms wide.
“No. You can’t kill him! If you do, I swear you’ll regret it!”
Jaylen scoffed, disdain dripping from his voice.
“Regret it?”
“The only thing we’ll regret is not killing this thing sooner! If we’d poisoned it from the start, none of this would’ve happened. My nephew wouldn’t be dead because of it!“#
Then, with a sneer, he pulled out a slingshot and aimed it–right at Onie’s eyes.
