“Ken? What did he say? Did something happen to Brietta?
“Say something!” Mom sobbed.
Both of them were crying in panic.
Just then, Mom got a call.
It was from the hospital.
“Hello, are you Brietta Swinton’s parent?”
A bad feeling rose in Mom’s chest. Her voice trembled. “Yes.”
The doctor spoke heavily.
“We finally reached you. Brietta didn’t make it. The body’s in the morgue… My condolences.”
Mom collapsed to the ground.
“Condolences? What does that mean? I just talked to Brietta days ago, and now this?” she thought.
Hearing the doctor’s words, Ken finally accepted it was me. I was dead because of him.
Tears gushed out as he kept repeating, “I’m sorry.”
Dad stayed calm. He took Mom to the morgue.
Ken followed. I floated after them.

When my parents lifted the white cloth and saw my horrific corpse, they broke down, screaming in agony.
It was the first time I saw my strong parents cry like that.
Ken too.
I couldn’t do anything. I just watched them grieve.
Then the doctor handed over a box.
He sighed as he said, “We pulled 200 nails from Brietta’s body… It was unbelievably cruel.”
Mom and Dad fainted the moment they saw the blood–soaked nails.
Ken stayed kneeling by my corpse.
He looked like he aged ten years overnight, whispering endless apologies.
But he knew no amount of sorry could undo what he did.
When my parents woke up, the first thing they did was find out who did this to me.
The moment they learned it was their own son, Dad grabbed a knife and charged at him.
“Ken Swinton! She was your sister!”
Every word was soaked in blood and tears. The knife hovered above his
head but never came down.
Ken dropped to his knees, begging for forgiveness.
Dad suddenly lost all strength and collapsed, blaming himself for failing to raise his son right.

It was my parents‘ worst nightmare. They picked my coffin and my grave and arranged my funeral, all while holding back their grief.
Their hair turned fully white overnight. Their faces aged by years.
Ken locked Nadya in the basement. He ordered 200 nails hammered into her, too.
But after the 99th nail, she couldn’t take the pain. She bled out and died.
Knowing his sin was unforgivable, Ken became a priest.
He swore to spend his life praying for my soul.
However, a mountain flood caught him on his way to the church. His body was crushed.
As he lay dying, he kept calling my name.
No one found him. Wild animals tore his body apart.
As his body returned to dirt, my soul slowly faded too.
Before disappearing, I took one last look at my parents. That was it for this life. In the next one, I still want to be their daughter. I just hope I never meet Ken again.
