Chapter 23
Upon hearing this name, Lindsey couldn’t help but tremble. Her once rosy complexion turned deathly pale, and she stood frozen in place for a long time without responding.
The people next to them all noticed that something was wrong.
Shannon patted her back and asked softly, “Lindsey, do you know the person Peyton mentioned?”
“Nice to meet you.” Lindsey came to her senses, with a hint of sadness in her eyes, and said, “But I don’t want to see this person. Peyton, you just tell him that Lena has passed away. I have nothing to say to him.”
Others may not know Lena, but the Arnold family is aware of her. This was Lindsey’s previous name. However, they never asked for details.
And just like a little episode, the birthday party was not affected by it. Everyone still chatted and laughed, watching Lindsey make a wish, blow out the candles, and cut the cake.
The banquet did not break up until nightfall.
Kevin, however, had not left yet. Peyton tried to persuade him in every possible way, even resorting to using security guards, but he still stood at the door.
Cars drove out one by one. He stretched his neck and looked for a long time, until the gate no longer opened. A few muffled thunderclaps sounded in the night sky, and raindrops fell on him.
Peyton’s words ignited his hope.

His Lena really didn’t die, she must still be angry now, that’s why she refuses to see him.
It’s okay, he could wait. Even if he had to wait for a lifetime.
Inside the house, Lindsey confessed everything to everyone,
She didn’t say before because she thought it was in the past and didn’t want to reopen the wound and feel the pain again. But she didn’t expect that three years later. Kevin still found out and even came to her door.
She didn’t understand why he had come. Did Zoey not stop him, allowing him to run to Los Angeles to find his ex–wife? This was not like her at all.
Lindsey’s mind was in a mess, but she couldn’t worry about that right now. The most important thing was to explain everything to her family and not cause any more trouble at home.
“Dad, Shannon…….” She hesitated, lowering her gaze and whispering, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to keep it from everyone. I just didn’t want to talk about him back then, and thought I had everything under control.”
Kolton sat in silence at the head of the table, his presence so imposing that it sent shivers down everyone’s spine even though he didn’t say a
word.
Lindsey may not have known, but Shannon, Darnell, and Rodney knew it was the calm before the storm.
“Silly child…” Shannon quickly stepped forward, showing no blame towards her, but instead comforting her, “Our family doesn’t need an apology, this isn’t your fault.”
“Yes, he went too far! How dare he bully my sister like that, and now he has the nerve to come knocking on our door. I’m going to go confront this scumbag right now, Darnell said, his temper flaring. As soon as he heard

about the harm his sister had suffered before, he was filled with anger and ran out, unstoppable.”
Rodney also stood up and comforted her, “Big sister, you don’t need to blame yourself. We are here to support you. I want to see what this Kevin is capable of.” At that moment, his eyes were terrifyingly cold.
Rodney has always been steady in his dealings, but once his bottom line is touched, his methods are ten times more ruthless than others.
Kolton stood up at this moment, walked up to Lindsey, gently pulled her into his arms, and choked out, “It’s all my fault, I’ve made you suffer for so many years, and even after your mother passed away, she couldn’t rest in peace…”
“This matter is handed over to your younger brothers to handle, you don’t need to worry about anything, and you don’t need to be afraid, Dad is here.”
Dad was there.
This sentence struck a soft spot in Lindsey’s heart.
She couldn’t hold back anymore and began to cry in Kolton’s arms. Years of pent–up grievances erupted in an instant, but also were completely released.
This was the feeling of being protected by family.
That’s great.
