“What?” Ethan couldn’t believe it.
“I said, there’s no need,” I repeated. “You and Vivian live happily ever after.”

“But Vivian has ruined everything…” Marcus said.
“That was your choice,” I cut him off. “You chose her, now you deal with the consequences.”
“I can banish her!” Ethan said desperately. “I can act like she never existed!”
“But she did exist.” I looked at him. “And you loved her. Those photos, those sweet words, those promises, they were all real.”
“None of that matters!”
“It matters to me.” I picked up the Silver Creek Pack’s offer letter. “Because they prove what kind of person you are.”
I walked towards the door.
“Sophia!” Ethan jumped up and ran after me. “Are you really going to abandon us?”
I stopped at the door and looked back at them one last time.
The kneeling pack members, the desperate Alpha, the crying Luna.
These people were once my world, my family, my responsibility.
But now, they were just strangers.
“I’m not abandoning you,” I said calmly. “I’m just choosing myself.”
“We’re going to die!” Vivian shrieked.
“Maybe,” I nodded. “But that’s not my problem anymore.”
I opened the door.
“Sophia,” Ethan called my name one last time, “I really did love you.”
I paused for a second.
“I know,” I said without turning back. “But love isn’t enough.‘
I walked out of the apartment and closed the door.
Desperate cries followed me, but I didn’t look back.

This bunch of wolves, who only ever took from me and used me to get what they wanted–they don’t deserve to be called my people.
And that worthless mate? I was done with him a long, long time ago.
He’ll get what’s coming to him.
Three Months Later, Silver Creek Pack Territory.
I stood on the balcony of the new pack house, looking at the distant, misty mountains, feeling at peace.
My phone rang. It was Sarah.
“Sophia, did you see the news?” Her voice was excited. “Your ex–husband’s pack completely collapsed!”
“I saw,” I said lightly.
The news report was detailed:
Alpha Ethan was officially banished by the Elder Council for leadership failure, becoming a rogue wolf.
Vivian had all her extravagances seized, but still owed the pack a huge debt and was forced into bankruptcy.
The original pack territory was divided between Blood Moon and Silver Fang.
Most pack members joined other groups; a few chose to follow Ethan into a nomadic life.
Ethan fell from a powerful Alpha to nothing more than a rogue. Don’t you feel a little sorry for them?” Sarah asked.
thought about it. “Nope.”
“Really?”
“Really,” I said, sure of it. “Everyone has to take responsibility for their choices. They chose betrayal and greed, and this is the price.”

After hanging up, I gathered my things to go to the medical center.
As head healer for the Silver Creek Pack, my new life was fulfilling and meaningful.
Alpha Connor respected my professional expertise, the pack members genuinely appreciated my service, and I finally had real autonomy and recognition.
More importantly, I had found myself again.
No longer a tool to be used, no longer a victim of betrayal, but an independent, strong, valued woman.
I walked into the new day, my heart full of peace.
As for the people who once hurt me, they had completely disappeared from my life.
Forever.
