“Why are you so excited about this!? “I growl, and he scoffs.
“Of course I’m excited. You’ve been keeping me away from my mate. Punishing the both of us for your so–called selflessness and loyalty.*
“Don’t you get it? This is chaos. Celine is Aiden’s mate. I can’t get between them. Plus, the pack needs Celine to marry Aiden for the prophecy to be fulfilled. For the sake of the pack, the alpha of the pack needs to marry his mate. Aiden and Celine have to get married. Otherwise, the pack would be in jeopardy. “I reply, and Karl falls silent for a while.

I turn around to look at her flawless face and I feel my heart squeeze with fear holding my lungs.
“Who. Do you want to be with? “I question, and she moves closer to me.
“You. “She replies, and my heart skips a beat. I was expecting her to say Aiden. For years, I watched her love him…. Desire him… What changed?
“You may feel indebted to the pack or helplessly devoted to these people, but I have no such compulsion. I want my happiness and joy. I don’t love Aiden. Aiden belongs to Carla. I want you, Ace. You… You are the mate I chose. The one I accept. “She continues as she takes my hand and my heart begins to thud and Karl begins to hop around in my head like a fool.
