Chapter 20

Celine;

“Stay with me, please… Open your eyes. “I open my eyes, and my blurry vision sets on Ace’s tear–filled eyes and worried face..

I try to speak, but words don’t leave my mouth.

I’m in his arms, and he seems to be running. He’s always cared for me. He’s always there when it matters. Only a few minutes ago, he tried to leave me to another man. But he couldn’t stay away for too long. He had to come searching.

I smile as I take my hand up to his face, and a teardrop falls from his beautiful silver eyes and lands on my face as he looks down at me.

“Please hold on, Celine. I’m getting help. “He begs, but I can’t hold on much longer. I feel my hand fall as I slip back into. darkness.

open my eyes, and I see Aiden beside my bed. I squint as the room is flooded with sunlight. He has my hand in his and is gently caressing the back of my hand.

He looks up at me and when he sees my eyes open, I watch his face light up.

“A flower for you, my Luna Please get well soon. The palace feels empty without and even beta Ace isn’t that much fun anymore. I need help. Where is Alria? How long have 1 been out for? Where is Carla? Does s anyone know it was Carla who made an attempt on my life?

Aiden’s POV:

I storm into the meeting room as I wonder why the elders called for an emergency meeting. Ace is right behind me, and as I take my seat, they all bow,

“What is so important that it couldn’t wait? “I question in annoyance as I stare at them. Celine’s little girl claimed that Celine woke up for the third time this week, and I was hoping to see her again this morning. but these men have ruined that plan. And they better have a good reason.

“It’s about your fated mate, Alpha. “One of the six elders says, and I turn to him.

“What about her? “I question in confusion and he adjusts in his seat as he looks at another elder.

“Not by your hands… Obviously… “Another elder says, and I feel Max, my wolf, stir inside me.

-What rubbish are they saying??– He growls, and I draw a deep breath to keep him calm.

“What we’re saying is… You clearly only love Carla, and the pack adores her. So, if there’s someone out there who… Wants Celine out of the way, why not let them? I mean… No one really likes her. She’s the daughter of murderers. Murderers who snatched our Luna, your mother, from us and cost us our alpha. “Another elder says and, much to my surprise, anger fills my veins.

They’re telling the truth, but anger still fills me. Before I can stop myself, I slap my palm on the table and stand up.

“Celine is my mate! MINE! “Max growls through me, and I feel the tension rise in the room as fear fills it.

“Anyone who dares to hurt her would have to face my wrath! She belongs to me, and only I get to hurt her! “I continue, and they all stare at me with shock on their faces.

“I want whoever made this attempt on her life caught as soon as possible, and I will heighten the security around her. You are lucky. I’m in no mood to have you all beheaded for suggesting something like that!”

This

is my palace, my pack, and she is my mate! What I do to and wish her is none of your business. I will get married to her no matter what. It can take years for all I care, but Celine is mine, and I will make her mine! When I get to Celine’s room, I see maids rallied around her, cleaning her on the bed. I selected them myself. I don’t let just anyone see or touch her after what happened. I can’t be any more careless with her. I can’t risk her life again.

Celine groans, and my eyes widen as I stare at her,

“Arila… “She mutters, and I raise a brow.

1 I watch with my heart thudding as she opens her eyes for the fourth time in seven days, and after looking about for a bit, her eyes land on something behind me. She keeps her gaze locked there, and my brows furrow. What is she staring at?

I turn around and find that she’s staring at Ace. Jealousy and anger fill my veins as I watch her gawk at him, and the need to have her look at me like that, to have her depend on me, clothe me, and I speak without giving it enough thought.

“Everyone, get out. From now on, I am responsible for Celine’s clothing, feeding, and bathing. I will get her dressed, feed her, and get her bathed. No pne will do anything I don’t ask them to. Celine is strictly my responsibility from now on! “I say, and only then does she look at me. But with shock and fear in her eyes.
