Chapter 6
Lance’s work phone lit up again. He picked it up and glanced through the
message.
With a cold look, he said, “Aaron said that Antonio was heading here.
“He’s bold.
Grace, do you want me to see him?”
glanced at my flat belly. “You can see him.”
Lance told the soldiers to bring Antonio in.
Antonio rushed over and greeted us, “Sir. Ma’am.”
Lance sat on the sofa without looking at Antonio.
Then, Lance took off his watch and put it on the table.
“I’ll give you 10 minutes.
“Grace needs me.”
Antonio had a bad feeling.
According to Lance’s attitude, the fighters must be his people.
“Colonel, I apologize for what I did yesterday.
“Amisunderstood.
“Please let me off.”
Lance sneered.
“Excuse me?
“Are you sure you should apologize to me and beg for my forgiveness?”
Antonio understood and knelt facing me.
“Grace, it’s my fault.
“I’m sorry for shouting at you. I should have given you a chance to explain…
I looked at him with indifference and responded with scorn, “Are you sure you just shouted at me?”
My words sent a chill down Antonio’s spine, so he began apologizing.
“Sorry for offending you, Mrs. Simard.
“Can you let me off for the sake of our two families‘ relations?”
I couldn’t believe Antonio would pressure me with that, so I sneered.
“Your parents must have been watching in heaven.
“Antonio, you were wrong!”
Antonio kept apologizing and accidentally fell, which caused his forehead to bleed.
He looked terrible.
“Yes. I was wrong.
“But I didn’t know the baby’s dad was Colonel Simard.
“If I had known, I wouldn’t have done that…”

Lance was reading a newspaper. Hearing that, he asked casually, “Do you
mean you’d have done the same if the baby’s dad were not me?
“That’s how you serve the people?”
Antonio got more afraid and began apologizing to Lance.
“Sir, I’m sorry.”
With a look of impatience, Lance looked away.
“Tell that to my wife.
“I’ll listen to her.‘
Antonio turned back to me and continued to apologize, with no dignity at
all.
“Mrs. Simard, I was wrong. Please forgive me.
“I’m sorry…
I felt better seeing him like that.
But when I glanced at my flat belly, I was reminded that my baby had
been killed and thought that I couldn’t just forgive Antonio. So I waved my hand.
Lance understood immediately.
“Go. My wife doesn’t want to forgive you.”
With his eyes like saucers, Antonio came over to grab my hand.
But before he did, Lance kicked him away.
Then, Lance stood up, walked to Antonio with a long face, and pressed the biggest bruise on Antonio’s shoulder.
Antonio began sweating, falling to the ground in pain.
His sweat kept dropping on the carpet.
With a pounding heart and a spinning mind, he said in a shaky voice, “Sorry… I was wrong.
“Colonel Simard, please give me a chance to make things right…”
Lance sneered and picked up his watch.
“You don’t seem to know what you did wrong.
“Then don’t waste my time.”
Lance waved his hand at the soldiers at the door.
A voice sounded behind Antonio, “Mr. Kaufman, please.”
When Antonio got the news downstairs that he had been fired, he was sure that he had offended Lance.
Antonio was here for Lance’s forgiveness, but Antonio didn’t expect Lance to be more cold–hearted than usual.
Now, Lance even wanted to kick him out.
Antonio tried to catch up with Lance, but the soldiers behind Antonio controlled him before he could stand up.
The soldiers pressed Antonio’s injuries, so he gave out a cry of pain.
Meanwhile, Lance said in a cold voice without turning around, “You didn’t sleep well last night, did you?
“Go back and get some rest.”
Then, Antonio was dragged out of the hospital.
Lance fed me water while asking, “I sent some people to punish him yesterday.
“How do you want to take care of him?
“I’ll do it for you.”
Antonio had apologized, and Lance had taught him a lesson.
But thinking about my deceased baby, I still felt angry.
“Treat him the way he treated me.
“I want them to suffer.”
