Evelyn’s mind went blank. “What do you mean?”
“Mom and Dad checked. Someone tampered with that wall,” Sebastian said, his eyes sharp. “If not you, who would go to such lengths to harm Charlotte?” Evelyn felt a chill run down her spine, her fingers trembling uncontrollably. “I’ll say it again, it wasn’t me. This time wasn’t me, last time wasn’t time before that, wasn’t me either. Do you believe me?”

“You always want me to believe you,” Sebastian’s eyes grew colder. “But what have you done? You’ve constantly framed Charlotte, harmed the child. How many times have I told you, I’m only nice to her for the child’s sake! Why do you keep causing trouble? Causing her miscarriage, what good does that do

Evelyn’s chest heaved violently, countless grievances and anger choking her throat.
She wanted to question him, to retort, to scream and tell him she’d never hurt anyone.
She wanted to ask him if he’d forgotten he once said he’d only believe her?
Forgotten he’d promised he’d never doubt her?
But in the end, she just looked at him wearily, her voice trembling as she said, word by word: “Fine, since you don’t believe me, then let’s end this.”
“Ill let you have your way, you four can live happily ever after!”
Sebastian froze, his pupils constricting. “What did you say?”

Evelyn, eyes red, stubbornly met his gaze, remaining silent.
After a long standoff, Sebastian took a deep breath.

Finally, he forced down his anger and hugged her. “Let’s end this. Charlotte has forgiven you, and I’m not going to hold it against you.”
“But remember,” he tightened his arms, “don’t ever talk about leaving again. I’m doing all this so we can run away together.”
Evelyn didn’t tell him she’d already decided to leave.
“She just forgave me so easily?” she whispered. “No conditions?”

Sebastian stiffened, silent for a moment before lighting cigarette.
Amidst the smoke, he slowly spoke.
“She… wants to have a wedding.”

Pausing, he looked back at her. “But it’s a fake wedding, just for the sake of the kids. Don’t overthink it.”
Evelyn’s lips trembled, but she couldn’t speak.
Her heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, each beat a tearing pain.
He already had a child with her, now they were even having a wedding.
What else was fake?
…What was she then?
Sebastian was still talking, his voice seeming distant.
Evelyn stared at his moving lips, suddenly feeling incredibly tired.

Sebastian stayed at the hospital for three whole days, tending to her almost incessantly.

with his fingers, whispering, “Don’t look, it’ll be over soon.”
But after he picked her up from the hospital, he immediately started preparing for the wedding.
To prevent her from “causing trouble,” he even confiscated her phone and assigned bodyguards to watch her 24/7.
Evelyn didn’t resist, just numbly packing her bags.
After packing, she donated everything he’d given her over the years.
These things never belonged to her, just like Evelyn and Sebastian Wolfe belonged to two different worlds.
On the wedding day, her phone was returned, filled with photos from Charlotte Monroe-
Sebastian in a suit gently placing a ring on Charlotte’s finger;
Their passionate kiss amidst everyone’s blessings;
Their family of four happily cutting the cake…
Each photo was like, a knife, slowly torturing her already broken heart.
Just as she was about to turn off her phone, the door suddenly opened.
Charles and Eleanor Wolfe stood at the doorway, their expressions cold. “The arrangements are complete. You’re leaving on a plane now.”
Eleanor handed her a plane ticket. “We guarantee, once you’re gone, he’ll never find you.”
Evelyn silently took the ticket and picked up her suitcase, which had been packed long ago.
As she walked out of the villa, the sun was shining.
She didn’t look back, walking step by step towards the car waiting on the road.
She didn’t say goodbye to Sebastian Wolfe.
Because, for the rest of their lives, mountains high and rivers long,
They would never see each other again…

Julian Shaw, my husband, cheated on me. This fact, like a cold nail, drove hard into my heart. I stood outside his office door, my body rigid as if frozen in ice. The heel of my black high heel rubbed against the cold marble floor, making a tiny sound that was like… Second Chance
