Reborn 10

A skinny beggar was standing in the road, begging for money. 

He had a drooling, mentally challenged son who was bowing. 

“Please, we haven’t eaten in days, give us some money.” 

I was about to pull out my wallet when I recognized the man as Shane, and that drooling boy was his son. 

What goes around comes around. 

“Shane, stop begging. It won’t help.” 

The beggar heard my voice and looked up, confused.

I was wearing makeup now, and dressed like a 

city girl. 

People said I was unrecognizable. 

He started to say something, but I floored it. 

In the rearview mirror, I saw Shane chasing the car, begging me to wait. 

Until he was gone. 

A quick death was merciful; being sick and 

broke was torture. 

The worst torture for Shane was that he could 

have been in the city with me. 

Now he was a beggar. 

That would haunt him for the rest of his 

miserable life. 

I rolled down the window and felt the cool 

evening air, and the world seemed right again.
