Chapter 4
He walked straight to me and bowed respectfully: “Miss Stone, here’s the eight million you requested.“]]
I nodded.
“Thank you, put it here.“]
As the cases were opened one by one, neatly stacked bills glittered under the lights.[]
Someone in the conference room gasped, and everyone’s eyes were fixed on the money.
The air seemed to be sucked out, and even everyone’s breathing became faint.]]
Leah’s face turned pale, but she couldn’t say a word.
She stared at the money, then looked up at the well–dressed man.[]
Suddenly, the CFO shouted in panic.]
“Kyle.., President Kyle?!“]
Kyle, President of New York Head Office.
This man was difficult to meet, even Blake Sr. would have trouble arranging a meeting with him–yet here he was, standing respectfully before me, addressing me as “Miss Stone.“]
Pierce hesitated for a few seconds, then quickly stepped forward, extending his hand in greeting.
“President Kyle, how did you come personally?“[]
“My grandfather always speaks highly of you and mentioned he’d love to meet you.“[]
Kyle didn’t even glance at him, just nodded slightly.
Then he turned to me and said: “Miss Stone, if you need anything else, just let me know.”
After saying this, he turned and left the conference room with his people.
Efficient as always as if staying even one more second would be a waste of time.]
Pierce’s hand froze in mid–air, his face alternating between red and white.]
Leah’s arrogance had long disappeared.
Her legs were weak, she could barely stand, and fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.]
I casually pulled out a stack of bills from the case and lightly patted Leah’s face.
“Leah, eight million, not a cent less.“[]
“Now, this watch is mine.”
With that, I yanked the Patek Philippe from Leah’s wrist and threw it into the trash can right in front of her.
“You
Leah’s eyes were about to pop out with anger.
I turned to Pierce with a calm smile.
Pierce, that watch–I’ve paid for it, right?”
Chapter 4
“Now, let’s talk about compensation for my phone.“[]
Leah was first stunned, then a contemptuous smile appeared on her face, as if she’d heard the best joke.[]
She crossed her arms, her tone sarcastic: “How much could a phone be worth?“]
I held up one finger.
“You’re right, it’s not worth much… only about one hundred million.”
The room fell silent for a moment, followed by uncontrollable laughter.
The marketing director even dramatically slapped the table: “One hundred million? Serena, did that coffee burn your brain?“]
The CFO pushed his glasses and pretended to add seriously: “According to company policy, damaged items are compensated at market value.“|[]
“Serena, for your phone’s market value, the change in my pocket might be enough?“]
Seeing everyone support her, Leah became even more smug.
She walked up to me, laughing mockingly: “How about this, I’ll be generous and help you find a spot at a mental health clinic.“[
“After all, delusions are a disease that needs treatment.“[]
Pierce stood aside, frowning but saying nothing.]
Faced with everyone’s mockery and sarcasm, I remained calm.]
“You’re right, an ordinary phone really isn’t worth much.“]
Leah snorted coldly: “Good that you know, stop embarrassing yourself!“]
“Too bad, this isn’t an ordinary phone.“]
As soon as I finished speaking, the conference room door was pushed open again.[]
This time, a middle–aged man in a gray jacket walked in, followed by eight bodyguards.]
Gavin–the government’s core spokesperson, someone who only appeared at official press conferences.
Pierce’s face changed dramatically as he quickly stepped forward.[]
“Mr. Gavin? How did you come here?“]]
