Chapter 35
Luna Lovette’s POV
I heard the v
voice of my
chief maid as she entered the room. “Luna is here. I didn’t know she was back,” she said, interrupting my sweet slumber.
Another maid suggested they come back later, but I decided it was fine for them to proceed with cleaning.
“It’s alright. Do what you have to do
I sat up in bed, realizing I was still in the dress I wore to the mating ceremony. I couldn’t recall how I ended up in bed, but I wondered if Alpha Kodak had carried me here.
Since I hadn’t showered before lying down, I decided to wait for them to finish cleaning before taking a shower.
I loved silk but preferred it to be changed daily when they cleaned.
The likelihood of Alpha Kodak carrying me to bed again, stirred something inside me, as I recalled dozing off in the car. I couldn’t help but wonder why Cassius hadn’t woken me up.
glanced around, relieved that Alpha Kodak had departed, and decided to exe
excuse myself so that the maids could clean up.
“Love, you’re awake. Embry exclaimed with such enthusiasm that it piqued my curiosity as I descended the stairs. She didn’t look like the pack was on her shoulders arall.
“Why are you so excited” I inquired. She looked at me as if I had missed something important. “Did you forget about the guests?” she reminded
- me.
“Oh, I felt a pang of embarrassment for forgetting. “Where are they? I should go greet them.”
I wasn’t sure who they were, but it was likely they were from another pack, and it seemed impolite to keep them waiting for so long without proper welcome. I was grateful to the maids for waking me up with their chatter.
“Alpha Kodak is already with them. They’re his parents, Embry disclosed, surprising me
I recalled his mother mentioning that she would come to look after me. I had thought she was joking and didn’t think I needed any special care, but
was eager to meet them out of politeness.
“I Thought Alpha Kodak had left,” I said seriously, hearing Cassius behind me. “No, he didn’t. He even refused for me to wake you when we reached the pack,” he revealed, confirming my suspicions.
“You should have insisted on waking me,
g me,” I blamed him but he was smiling like a fool as Embry asked.
“Who is Raul?”
Her question got me suspicious so I asked in return. “Where did you hear his name from?”
Her lips pursed together and she did not give me an answer but rather said. “I think you should meet your soon–to–be in–laws.”
My attention shifted back to the issue of Alpha Kodak’s parents, “Which guest room did you assign them?” inquired of Embry, and she pointed me in the right direction.
I hurried to greet them. As I was about to knock on the door, I heard Kodak’s voice saying,
“I don’t love Lovette, we are only together for the benefits.”
The truth stung, and I couldn’t shake off the pain it caused me. We had agreed to pretend, so why did his family have to know the truth?
My heart sank, and embarrassment washed over me. My hand, raised to knock on the door, froze in place. The door opened, revealing Kodak with guilt written all over his face.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be sleeping His caring tone almost distracted me from his earlier words.
My heart weighed heavy, and I felt ashamed in front of his pa
parents. I didn’t know how to greet them anymore, as my enthusiasm had vanished.
I was unsure how they would perceive me now that everything

but maybe I was wrong,
“Oh, Luna Lovette, you are just as stunning as in your pictures, even more so,” Kodak’s middle–aged mother complimented me, and I forced a

“You are very beautiful too, and let me welcome you to the Silver pack.” I was trying very hard to hide the pain I was feeling before, but this woman was just too much.
“Oh, thank you,” she said and embraced me. 1 felt warmth radiating from her as if her son’s words meant nothing to her. But what if she was doing all this because of the pup!
I had to make sure not to let my guard down, but his father’s actions mesmerized me,
“What about me?” his father asked, joining the hug. I felt warm tears sliding down my cheeks. This felt like the family I lost when I was just thirteen, except that they weren’t mine.
The fact that I grew accustomed to the loss of my parents did not mean I didn’t miss them, and Kodak’s parents made me feel as if I found a family.
“You are crying,” Kodak’s mother, whom I had no choice but to call mom, said, wiping my tears as his father, whom Fagain had no choice but to call dad, added his voice.
“Is it because of what that idiot said?” he asked, referring to Kodak. I shook my head
was obvious that they knew I heard everything, but their actions seemed so genuine that I couldn’t tell if they meant it or were faking it.
You remind me of my late parents. I said honestly, not caring how vulnerable 1 looked in front of Alpha Kodak.
I saw sorrow in his eyes as his mother hugged me tightly and whispered, “We are your parents now okay!!
“But..” I wanted to confirm that this was all part of a contract, as I didn’t want to get too used to all the love they showered on me. However, I received a mindlink after that
