Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Alpha Jephthah’s POV
I had known Lovette for a long time, drawn to her strength and intelligence. We were deeply in love, but three years ago, something happened and that changed everything.
During a business trip to the human world, I met my destined mate, and the bond we shared overshadowed everything I felt for Lovette.
Please don’t judge me as heartless, as this was more painful for me than for her.
When I shared my experience with my parents upon my return, they supported the mate bond, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell Lovette face–to- face. I left without saying goodbye, the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
Even without the bond, I struggled to forget Lovette and questioned why.
My human mate was kind, and life was peaceful there. I didn’t have to be a hero, I could simply live. I abandoned my pack to be with my human mate, but 1 had no regrers because she was my destined mate.
Just a month ago, she was in labor with our first child, a moment we had been anticipating since our marriage.
My expectations were high, but my human mate struggled during labor and was rushed to the theater
The devastating news that she and our newborn did not survive crushed my soul.
I stayed behind to make funeral arrangements, leaving enough money for her parents and siblings before returning to my pack yesterday,
I was warmly welcomed by my pack members but something felt strongly amiss
“Jeff, you’re back,” my mother greeted me with a tight hug. I had already informed them about the tragedy, so there were no questions asked.
After pulling away, my father noticed my weakened state and asked, “Have you not been training?”
My fauner never liked the human world with its skyscrapers. During his last visit, he complained endlessly about elevators and airplanes.
Our pack was sunnier, reminiscent of Florida in the human world. Lovette used to love the sun as well, indulging in sun baths whenever she visited.
After my father’s departure, he never returned, despite my wife’s insistence on more visits from my parents back then.
I couldn’t agree to it. My parents were looking after my pack while I was away making her happy.
“There are no wars where I stayed in the human world. Everything has been peaceful,” I mentioned.
“I wish the packs were also peaceful, but there has been a lot of interesting news circulating,” my father hinted. Intrigued, I dropped my duffle bag. which a maid promptly carried to my r
Being away from the pack for just three years felt like thirty.
My parents had made many changes, and there were many unfamiliar faces, I wondered if they had left for different packs or died in wars
It was too early to tell, so my curiosity about the news around the packs grew.
“What is the most current new?” I asked as my mom gently led me to the dining table. “You should eat first, having been from a long journey.”
I wanted to hear the news first, but I had to eat first. Only after f finishing my meal did both my mom and dad hit me with a series of news. “Love is getting married?” I couldn’t bear that part. Without waiting for the Alpha’s jume to be mentioned or my question to be answered, I rushed
My dad chased after me, asking. “Where do you think you’re going“”

However, training was not as important to me as stopping Lovette f

However, things t took a different turn when I realized her supposed fiancé was present.
Just by looking at him, I could tell he was tough, and 1 might have been like him, if not more, had 1 stayed in my pack.
Little did I know he was Alpha Kodak. His parents, Luna Kenzie and Alpha Kash were greatly feared before. I didn’t know when their son took over. but when his parents were in charge, he was not as well–known
My pain surged as he pulled Love into his arms. I wanted to snatch her away.
I may have hurt her, but I did not see him as deserving of her love because there was no love in his eyes.
Everything he did seemed to be just to spite me. After he flaunted his strength in my face, I was determined to train and challenge him to a duel.
I spoke from my heart after Lovette exposed my plans to ruin their marriage.
nan doesn’t love you as much as I do because no one can love you more than me”
“Love, you will regret it. This man
I loved her before, and though I was afraid of feeling the same way I did when I met my human mate, I hoped to never find my second chance mate so I could spend the rest of my life with her.
However, Alpha Kodak stood in my way. He prevented me from seeing Lovette in private, and this time, he said something that made me feel guilty.
“You love her, yet you disappeared from her life without giving her the respect of knowing your reason for leaving her.
The look in Lovette’s eyes showed her surprise at his knowledge of the details of our relationship.
Clearly, she had not told him so how did he know? Alpha Kodak had more to say.
“Alpha Jephthah, I could never do what you did to Lovette, so judge between yourself and me. Who loves her more!
Alpha Kodak was adept at evading the truth. He refused to acknowledge his feelings for Lovette but ensnared me with his analysis.

“Everyone makes mistakes, Love. Please, let me explain” I implored her, feeling too timid to take any action.
She was ensconced in Alpha Kodak’s embrace, with Cassius and Embry appearing content about it,
I recalled how supportive they had been when Love and I were together, providing unwavering backing to me and my pack.
I ad believed I was shattered when my human mate passed away, but witnessing the anguish in Lovette’s eyes directed at me left me even more devastated
Juu leave, Alpha Jephthah. You have overstayed your welcome. Nothing you say can change my mind, so it’s best to keep your thoughts to
I didn’t consider her feelings when I accepted the mate bond and married my human mate. That was the subtle message I gathered from her words, and I felt compelled to make it right. But how?
She was getting married tomorrow, Suddenly, a name popped into my head, and I smiled as I left her pack house.
I was determined to wi
to win her back, and the would be mine again before she realized it. However, there was still a lingering issue.”
