Chapter 44
Luna Lovette’s POV
After hearing what he said to his parents that morning, I was cautious, not wanting anything to develop between us. However, Kodak had a point.
Even after the divorce, we would still be in each other’s lives, so it was better for us to be good friends for the sake of the future.
I was upset about the kiss, but this was supposed to be real. Even after the officiating minister declared us husband and wife, Kodak was still holding back, and I knew it was because of the kick, so I had to take the initiative this time.
I had shared a few kisses in my past relationships, but they were never as deep or long as the one Kodak initiated earlier.
They were more like pecks on the cheek or, in cases like Jeff’s, on the lips. Jeff’s betrayal had made me reserved and cautious in subsequent relationships, as he was the first man 1 dated.
At one point, I had desperately wanted an Alpha for my pack, but I eventually realized that a Luna could be just as good as an Alpha
Since then, a peck on the cheek became the boundary I set for those I dated. It wasn’t because they weren’t Alphas, but rather my way of testing their loyalty, which they all failed.
blew a kiss into the crowd, eliciting louder cheers, before playfully pulling Kodak by his bow tie. Shock reflected in his eyes as our lips met
He had held back because of what had happened previously, so this time I took the lead, but he soon deepened the kiss, taking control.
When I tried to pull away, my lips parted slightly, but he seized the opportunity, his tongue intertwining with mine
This was meant to be a charade, yet why were these intense emotions stirring within me
I felt strangely exhilarating, and I silently cursed myself for not anticipating such a reaction. By the time he withdrew, I was breathless, my checks Lushed.
Taking my hand, he kissed the back of it before enveloping me in his embrace.
At that moment, I felt secure and desired, though I had to remind myself that it was all a facade.
Kodak had already clarified to his parent that this was merely i show, extinguishing any hope of a genuine connection
I didn’t have the chance to tell you how stunning you look, Kodak remarked, eliciting butterflies in my stomach and making me feel like a teenager again.
“You don’t look bad yourself,” I replied honestly as we strolled to our seats.
During the pack shower, Embry had a group of young girls shower us with rose petals, creating a beautiful scene.
“Congratulations, Alpha Rodak and Luna Embry. Are you considering changing your names as well? Jeff inquired, prompting us to ponder the
I realized that I had not given it much thought, but I was adamant about retaining my surname, being the sole surviving daughter of my parents.
I hoped that someday, the man I would truly marry would understand my desire to incorporate my surname into our pup’s name, assuming I ever found myself in a genuine marriage.
For now, I will spare myself the stress of changing my name, and I suppose that is the advantage of being in a fake marriage.
Everyone I met at Kicky’s mating ceremony was in attendance, including him and his parents, Alphas from all the packs were represented, some with their Lunas, making the occasion grander than I had ever imagined.
I searched my mind for a suitable response, but Kodak came to my rescue with not only a perfect one but also a heartwarming one.
“We are both leaders, so why should she change her name! If you truly loved her as you claimed, then you wouldn’t forget that she’s an orphan. Fo not as heartless as you to erase her father’s name by having her change hers”
The sorrowful and embarrassed look on Jeff’s face was quite satisfying, and the next thing I knew, Mom and Dad hugged me from both sides.
Tim so happy to have a daughter like you” Mom whispered, and warmth enveloped my heart as I beamed. Tm so happy to have a mom like you.”
“Mom, Dad, what about me?” Kodak asked in a jealous tone, and I laughed and teased him, “You sound like a big baby”
Upon revisiting the setup, I felt a sense of gratitude towards my parents for all they had invested to create such a mesmerizing occasion.

“Mom, Dad, this is truly beautiful. Thank you for all your help,” I expressed sincerely, but my mom seemed upset.
“Who gave you the right to thank us for simply doing our job as parents?” Mom scolded me. I chuckled and replied, “Well, it exceeded my expectations”
As the refreshments began and the time came for the toast, I started to feel nervous, knowing that it was customary for the bride and groom to drink to each other.
I was pleasantly surprised when Embry handed me a drink. “Don’t worry, it’s fresh grape juice with zero alcohol I made sure of it.”
It dawned on me why she had disappeared after the vows were exchanged. She had been arranging for a non–alcoholic drink for me.
“You’re the best sister ever, I told her sincerely. She shrugged and replied,
Thanks for the promotion from best friend to sister”
However, I couldn’t help but notice that her excitement seemed to surpass the occasion.
“Is there something you haven’t told me yet?” I inquired. She smiled and said,
“I tell you after everything is over.”
She was beaming at someone, and I saw Alpha Mason and his beta approaching,
I recognized them from Alpha Mason’s legendary coronation. He had not been born into a leadership family but had fought his way to that position
Some time ago, he made headlines with that news. Embry’s cheeks reddened at the sight of Beta Scout, and I wondered, “Are you mates?”
I really hoped they weren’t because Beta Scout had no principles when it came to she–wolves, but I received the worst news on my wedding day.
“Yes, we are mates, and I would like her to move to my pack.” I suddenly felt pale because Embry had indeed been like a sister to me.
“Embry, can we talk first?” I asked. She looked confused, but Alpha Kodak stopped me, giving a satisfying suggestion instead
