Chapter 45
Embry’s POV
Like all she wolves, I was desperate to find my mate, but I hardly left my pack. When I couldn’t find my destined mate within my pack, I started to feel a sense of desperation.
Despite my longing to find my mate, my love for my Luna and best friend kept me grounded. The search for my mate feli like an illusion as I prioritized my love for them over my own desires.
I was more focused on Loveste than on finding my mate, so when I turned eighteen and still hadn’t found my mate within my pack. I hesitated to venture out to search for them.
The possibility of leaving my pack if I found my mate in another pack was daunting, and I was content with the idea of not finding my mate rather than facing the uncertainty of leaving my pack.
Although I found beta Raul attractive, he wasn’t my mate. I was happy to be mated with beta Scout, but it seemed like no one else was happy for
- me.
Alpha Kodak and beta Raul didn’t seem pleased with my mate, and even Cassius tried to discourage me when I went to get wine for Love.
I dislike rejections, but I believe there should be exceptions, Cassius remarked, leaving me puzzled but determined.
“I will never reject the mate the Moon Goddess gave me,” I declared. As my big brother, he always supported me and helped me train when I was young, but the dynamics of the mate bond were unfamiliar territory for him.
Having never experienced having a mate himself, I could empathize with his perspective. However, that did not give him the right to dictate my life choices.
I had hoped Love would be happy for me, but she too seemed hesitant about the news until Alpha Kodak intervened after Alpha Scout extended an invitation to join his pack.
While technically I belonged there, my responsibilities at the Silver Pack made me hesitant. I wanted to discuss it with Love first, but Alpha Kodak proposed a solution that would accommodate everyone’s needs.
“Due to the ongoing wedding, Love will be staying at my pack for a few days. Embry has always been the mother figure of the Silver Pack, so the news will be difficult for the pack members. Please allow Love some time to break the news to them, and then we will call you to come claim her.”
I knew I would miss my pack members dearly, but this opportunity seemed too perfect to pass up. Beta Scout seemed content with the arrangement, but I sensed something amiss in the way everyone who had previously opposed my departure appeared satisfied with Alpha Kodak’s words
After Beta Scout returned to his seat with his Alpha, I approached Alpha Kodak and inquired,
“Is there something you wish to share with me?”
I noticed a certain look in Love’s eyes that confirmed there was indeed something they all wanted me to know but were hesitant to express, Alpha
Kodak then advised,
“You are a clever woman, and since your mate is not from your pack, it would be wise to familiarize yourself with a few things about him before undergoing the marking ceremony
His words seemed cryptic to me, and I openly admitted my confusion. “I’m feeling lost here
Although reluctant to divulge more, Alpha Kodak provided a subtle hint, considering my limited exposure to pack customs. The Silver Pack operated differently, postdy influenced by having a she–wolf as their leader, and the mating rituals were particularly enchanting.
Alpha Kozlak announced, “You will vi
this pack tomorrow,” further adding to my bewilderment as I knew Love would not have returned by then. On the other hand, he had informed Beta Scout that I would be arriving in a few days, which should be at least three days from now to allow Beta Scout to prepare for my arrival
wasn’t expecting much, but I knew the members of the Blue Pack had to be informed about my arrival.
“But you said to give him a few days.” I pointed out, but he didn’t seem moved by my sentiments, speaking in a slight but firm Alpisa tone. “Just do as I say,” he added, his tone softening at the end. “Will your
I looked to Love for reassurance, and the nodded. Throughout the occasion, I was curious, but then I saw Zeeva chatting casually with Beta Scout. which made me uncomfortable.
My brother was a beta, and his behavior was much like Lovette’s Though kind, they were never overly friendly to prevent others from taking advantage of them

However, Beta Scout was behaving as if he had no boundaries.
When our eyes met, his smile froze, and Zeeva returned to her chair. Something didn’t add y
Scout that I didn’t.
I felt like everyone knew something about Beta
I focused on the party and had a few conversations with Beta Raul. He was not only incredibly attractive like his Alpha but also kind and attentive to
This encouraged me to take the opportunity to inquire about what everyone seemed to be avoiding telling me.
“I sense that you’re not thrilled about my mating with Beta Scout, I said directly. His expression dimmed, but I appreciated his honesty.
“The truth is, my Alpha shared so many wonderful things about you that I couldn’t help but fall for you before even meeting you. Unfortunately, you’re already mated to someone else.
If everyone were as candid as him, I believed the world would be a better place. His words stirred something within me, though it wasn’t the mate bond.
Tm truly sorry about that, but I believe the Moon Goddess pairs us for a reason,” I replied, I liked him, but I didn’t think my feelings were as strong as his for me. I was relieved that he wasn’t offended by my decision
“I understand the mate bond. I genuinely wish you all the best Embry. I won’t be able to get to know you as I had hoped.”
His words saddened me. I wouldn’t be part of the collaboration between the packs anymore, despite my anticipation.
“Thank you, Beta Raul. I wish I had the chance to know you better.”
As Love and Alpha Kodak had their first dance, we engaged in conversations about our packs. The cake cutting was interesting, and while we were enjoying the food, some guests were on the dance floor.
It had been a while since I had danced, and I looked around for Beta Scout, but he was nowhere to be found. Since his Alpha was still present, I assumed he was nearby.
“I may not see you for a while, would you like to dance with me?” Beta Raul asked. I saw no sue with his request, especially since he was the best man and I was the maid of honor.
“Sure.” I took his hand, and as we danced, chaos erupted. I regreted agreeing to dance with him. If I hadn’t, we wouldn’t have made the headlines the next day.
