Chapter 48
“Forget about the court. I’ll give you that house, Melissa. Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, let’s not bother Mr. Moore anymore,” he said, his tone mild, almost with a hint of negotiation.
Melissa, however, wasn’t buying it. The lawsuit is definitely going on, otherwise, it would seem like I’m taking advantage of you! What happened tonight can’t be dismissed either. I don’t like being wrongfully accused?
Just as Hugh was about to say something, Bradley spoke slowly. “Let’s check the surveillance footage then.”
Cold sweat began to break out on everyone present.
Vera quickly entered with the surveillance video.
The footage was exceptionally clear: Hannah bumped into Melissa from behind on purpose.
Melissapointed at Hannah, murmuring discontentedly, I told you. She bumped into me, humph.
Hearing this, Hugh sweated profusely, knowing he was having a streak of bad hick tonight. He apologized to Bradley sincerely, “Mr. Moore, it’s all my wife’s fault. I apologize to you on her behalf.”
Who are you apologizing to? I didn’t suffer any loss.” Bradley leaned slightly forward, replying in a leisurely tone. He turned to Melissa. “You said she even filmed a video? What video?”
He was a bit worried that Melissa had been filmed in an inappropriate videos if that was the case, the nature of this matter would change.
“Here!” Melissa handed Bradley a phone from the sofa
“That’s my phone… Shocked. Hannah tried to take it back
But Bradley gave her a cold glance, silencing her farther words.
He pressed the play button, and the screen displayed Melissa’s humslated face.
As expected, the clear–headed Melissa looked like she was born to endure insults and bullying, which made Bradley more and more infuriated as he watched the video.
As the video ended, the pens up anger almost overwhelmed Bradley. His face darkened, and his voice grew colder as he asked Melissa, “You’re the victim. Tell me, how do you want to handle this!”
Melissa pondered for a moment, replying. The wine tastes terrible. Make her drink a bottle, toor
“Good idea. Put the wine on my tab.” Bradley’s cold voice sounded
Grinning, Melissa picked up a boule of wine and handed it to the pale–faced Hannah, “Drank up, not a drop can be lef.”
Hearing this, Hugh couldn’t maintain his forced smile any longer. With clenched teeth, he said to Melissa, “Melissa, it was Hannah’s fault tonight. I’ll drink for her.”
“Honey…” Hannah called out with a
a pang of heartache.
“What Can’t stand it?” Melissa grinned at her.
There was no trace of arrogance left in Hannah’s voice, her eyes lowered as she murn uned, “His stomach is not in good health..”
“Is that so? What a loving couple. It’s so enviable. Melissa sounded sincere.
From her face, Hannah saw the innocence of the past, the naive Melissa, so pure she was almost foolish and always so easily swayed.
Back in school, they often teamed up for group projects. All it took was a litle cooing and a few sweet words, and Melissa would take on all the group work willingly
She clung to a shred of hope and pleaded humibly, “Melissa, aren’t you looking for a job as a designer! You can come to my studio anytime. Can we
Melissa shook her head with a smile, replying, “I was able to get a job here, thanks largely to your help. Why didn’t you say ‘let it go‘ hack then? When the wine was broken, why didn’t you say “let it go? And you want to let it go‘ only when trouble falls on you?”
Hannah’s face Blushed, and she pressed on stubbornly. “It was all a misunderstanding, on • cleared up, everything will be fine. You know Hugh’s stomach issue is chronic. Downing this bottle of wine will land him in the hospital…

Melissa’s elongated “oh” was followed by a playful wink. “Then you drink it!”
“Me?” Hannah looked at her in confusion.
“Your stomach is fine, night?” Melissa said, an innocent smile playing on her lips,
Hannah hesitated for two seconds, glanced at the sullen Bradley, and finally took the wine.
Melissa quickly pulled out her phone from her bag, asking. “How about I record this and send it to our class group? So everyone can see how great our two–faced Hannah is at drinking.”
