Chapter 193
All the way back, Sienna kept trying to find a chance to clear things up with Wayne, but she kept cuming her off Sienna never got the chance. They were both adults. She was twenty–eight, not eighteen. Some things didn’t need to be spelled out. They both knew what was going on. In the end, it was just about whether they were willing to accept it or not.
“Sienna, see you later”
ter Wayne smiled at her, his manure, flawless face exuding an effortless grace. Standing by the car with the poise of a gentleman, he reminded Sienna of someone from her past.
Without betraying any emotion, Sienna simply murmured a quiet “okay” in response, then turned and walked away.
As soon as Sienna got home, she saw Amber constantly interrupting Winifred, excitedly showing off all the fun things that had happened that day. Winifred sat on the couch, expressionless, tipping through a magazine.
Amber kept going on and on, but when Winifred saw Sienna, she immediately walked over.
“Sienna, you’re back, Winifred said as soon as she saw her.
“Yeah Winifred, how’s school! Are you getting used to
ie Sienna asked.
If even the buildings she donated couldn’t help Winifred settle in, Sienna would just transfer her to a different school
“It’s alright, I guess. Oh, by the way, I wanted to tell you that I signed up for the Vallaris Art Competition next month. It’s a live event, and they’ll announce the results on the spot. There’s even a trophy, and you can bring a parent… Do you think you’ll have time to come?”
Winifred suddenly felt awkward after saying dut. She quickly ducked her head, looking away from Sienna
Sienna was genuinely surprised. Winifred’s inviting her meant the resentment in her heart had faded a lot. She gently placed her hand on Winifred’s head, her eyes soft as she said. “Of course I can. It would be my honor, Winifred. I believe you’ll be the best out there.”
Winifred’s checks were burning hot. She was never one for these kinds of moments and felt super awkward, but deep down, she secretly kind of liked it
Amber let out a disinissive snort, turned away with her arms crossed. Big deal. When I get first place in the whole grade, Winifred’s little am contest

Wayne, not caring about his injuries, was downing drink alter drink. Before long the place was littered with empty bottles. His parents were worned sick and called Nora over.
“What’s wrong with my brother?” Nora asked.
“We don’t know. As soon as he got back, he locked himself in his room and just kept drinking.” Nora’s mother said, her eyes full of worry. She couldn’t remember the last time her son had been like this.
Could it be that my casual mention of marriage last time put too much pressure on him? I really just said it in passing, she thought.
He wasn’t getting any younger. He was already thirty–three, while his sister’s kid was five, and he still hadn’t settled down
“Being his mother wasn’t easy. What if he ended up dying galone and then blamed them for it even in the afterlife? she worriedly thought to himself,
Nora asked her assistant about Wayne’s schedule and learned that he’d attended the Quinn family’s yacht party, with Jason also present. She immediately called Jason to find out what had happened.
When the hung up, her eyes went wide in disbelief. “My brother actually confessed? she thought, stunned.
