After packing my things, I headed to the Pack House Council Room. The moment the Elders heard that I wanted to resign from my position as Luna, they all slammed their hands on the table in unison.

Seeing their hypocritical attempts to persuade me to stay, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Their so-called concern was nothing more than self-interest. I had brought many benefits to the pack over the years.
Because of the Moon Goddess’ guidance, I, the heir of the Howl of the Moon Pack, had come to this remote pack.
Because of me, the Elders had used my name to obtain a great deal of resources from the Howl of the Moon Pack. So, it was only natural that they were reluctant to let me go when I decided to leave.
“Lily! Think carefully before you speak!”
“Liam grew up under our eyes. He would never betray you!”
Listening to all their doubts, I calmly dialed Liam’s number. Before Liam’s voice could come through, it was Eva’s voice that was heard first.
“Liam, should I go back and pick up my lingerie?” In an instant, the once noisy council chamber fell silent. Everyone’s face turned awkward.
I spoke unhurriedly. “Eva, I’ve already packed your things. You and Liam can focus on your official duties.”
I had intended to end the call then, but Liam suddenly sounded unusually flustered.
