Chapter 7
“The meeting is about to start. Can you take Eva and get as far away as possible?”
I took Zach’s arm and got ready to leave the hall. But Liam insisted on standing in my way.

“You are my mate. How can you act so close to someone else without any shame? Come back with me. Stop making a scene.
I looked at Liam coldly.
“We’re already over. I am no longer your mate, Liam.
I believed that, at that moment, Liam truly wanted me to come back. He even lowered his pride and knelt before me, speaking
sincerely.
“I’m sorry, Lily. Everything that happened before was my fault. Please give me another chance. I want to make things right, to make up for the child we lost. Please stop saying you’re not my mate. If you come back to me, I swear I’ll change. Please don’t
leave me.”
Thinking back on the seven years I spent with Liam, I remembered how he had never once admitted fault. He had always lived in his own world.
In his mind, because I loved him, he could hurt me endlessly. He believed he never had to change, and I would stay
no matter what.

Looking at him at the moment, apologizing so earnestly, I was briefly moved. But as the memories of the past rushed back, that fleeting softness in my heart was crushed completely.
“I don’t need it anymore.”
I walked away with Zach, disappearing from Liam’s sight.
After we left the hall, Zach looked at me proudly–clearly waiting for praise. I sighed and gently patted his head.
“Thank you for standing by me so firmly.
Hearing my words, Zach’s face instantly turned red.
“I’ll always stay by your side.”
His sincerity quietly etched itself into my heart. At that moment, I finally asked the question that had been bothering
“I’m not exactly a gifted heir. Why did you agree to be my assistant? Being my assistant isn’t an easy job.
His eyes sparkled as he looked at me and spoke each word with care. “Because you’re Lily. And you’re worth it.”
After the meeting ended, just as expected, Liam stopped me again, saying, “Lily, I think we should sit down and have
talk.”

His attitude was sincere, and there was a familiar purity in his gaze, just like when we first met. I thought that sooner or later,
it had to be dealt with, so I brought Zach with me to Liam’s private lounge.
This time, Liam didn’t care about Zach’s presence. He even shed a few tears as he asked, “We’re still mates, aren’t we?”
I shook my head and said, “We are no longer mates. From the moment we lost our child, everything ended.”
Liam shook his head desperately and clutched my hand.
“I know you’re upset, Lily. We can have another child as long as we’re still us. You don’t like Eva, right? I’ll banish her forever.
I’ll make her a rogue as long as you come back to me.”
I gave him a bitter smile.
