Ryan’s expression twisted, and then he scoffed.
“Seriously? Tessa, I already agreed not to run away from marriage, what more do you want?
“I don’t get what your problem is. Quit being dramatic, will you? I don’t have the patience for your act.”
He still didn’t seem to get it.
“So you just switch grooms and expect me to go along with it? Tessa, are you that pathetic? Thirsty for any guy who shows up?”
Nathan stormed up and punched Ryan in the face.
“Foul mouth. I don’t mind teaching you some manners since your parents clearly didn’t.”
He wiped the blood from his lip and staggered to his feet, ready to swing
back.
“Enough!”
Albert shouted, furious, and kicked Ryan aside. “Rebellious son! Haven’t you made a big enough fool of yourself?!”
He turned, his expression softening slightly as he gazed thoughtfully at the bracelet on my wrist. “Nathan, are you sure about this?”
He nodded coldly.

“The wedding goes on. The bride, Tessa Sullivan, and the groom, Nathan Bennett!”
Then, Albert dragged Ryan off the stage.
The look on Ryan’s face was priceless–he obviously hadn’t expected the groom to change.
His eyes were bloodshot.
“She’s just a used woman I’ve slept with, Nathan, nothing to be proud of! I wouldn’t touch her again even if she begged!
“I’m telling you, I don’t even want to marry her! She’s a fickle slut!”
Ryan screamed, completely unhinged.
“You’ve been sleeping with her all along, haven’t you? Stop pretending—”
Nathan suddenly kicked him flying.
Albert sighed and made another announcement.
“I once promised Tessa’s father that whoever marries Tessa becomes the next heir of my family.
“So now, I officially name the Jenkin family’s heir–Nathan Bennett.”
The room erupted in applause.
Everyone was glad to see that scumbag Ryan fall from grace.
As for the whole innocence thing he shouted about, nobody cared.

His father looked at him, full of disappointment. “I told you, marrying Tessa meant earning the Sullivan family’s support. That was your one chance to be heir.
“And you didn’t cherish it.”
Only now did Ryan finally regret it.
He broke down in tears.
He never thought losing me would come at such a high price.
I loved him, so how could I marry someone else?
“No, she’s just doing this to get back at me…”
