His gaze swept over her, as if checking for injuries, finally breathing a sigh of relief. “What happened these three days?”
Sophie’s lips curved slightly, blood seeping from her cracked lips. “Nothing.”
She cut straight to the point. “The wedding you promised me–when will you deliver?”
Phoebe immediately looked up. “What wedding?”
Elliot was silent for a moment. “She and I need to have a makeup wedding.”
Seeing Phoebe’s eyes instantly well up with tears, he quickly explained, “It’s just a ceremony, Phoebe. You’re the only one in my
heart.”
Phoebe forced a smile. “I understand… I’m not angry. You’re doing this to save me.”
She suddenly looked at Sophie, saying gently, “Miss Albright, why don’t I help you choose a wedding dress?”
In the following days, Phoebe stuck close to Sophie during every dress fitting.
At the bridal shop, Sophie stood before the fitting mirror in a pristine white gown that accentuated her slender waist. Phoebe followed her every step, personally inspecting each dress, nitpicking every detail.
“This neckline is too low,” Phoebe criticized, tugging at Sophie’s collar. “Choose something more conservative.”
“The waistline doesn’t flatter your figure,” she said, picking up another dress. “How can Mrs. Sinclair wear such an ordinary style?”
Sophie cooperated quietly throughout, like an emotionless puppet.
When the final dress was selected, in the empty fitting room, Phoebe finally dropped her mask.
“So you weren’t indifferent all this time–you were playing hard to get.”
She suddenly grabbed Sophie’s wrist, her nails digging deep into the flesh. “Let me tell you, don’t think you can steal Elliot away like this. He can only be mine!”
Sophie didn’t even lift an eyelid, just calmly pulled her hand back.
There was no playing hard to get, no deliberate attempt to steal Elliot.
She wanted to leave more than anyone, hoping this farce would end quickly.
But what she didn’t expect was that Phoebe was convinced she was competing for Elliot, and began causing trouble again.
The night before the wedding, Elliot suddenly kicked down her door.
“Did you lock Phoebe in the fitting room?” His face was dark. “Don’t you know she has claustrophobia?!”
Sophie closed her eyes wearily. “I didn’t.”

“Still lying?” Elliot yanked her up roughly. “Seems the previous lessons weren’t enough!”
Ignoring her struggles, he had his bodyguards lock her in the dark, damp basement.
In the darkness, Sophie sat in the corner, hugging her knees.
At midnight, she suddenly heard rustling sounds.
Then a bag of live rats was thrown in!
“Ahhhh-!”
She screamed and jumped up, frantically pounding on the iron door until her nails cracked, but no one came to rescue her…
The next day, Elliot opened the door with a cold expression. “Just one night in confinement–why cry all night?”
After an entire night of torment, Sophie’s face was already deathly pale. “Phoebe released rats in here…”
Elliot scoffed. “Phoebe would never do such a thing.”
He turned on the light. “Where are these rats you mentioned?”
Sophie was stunned.
The basement was spotless–not even a single rat hair in sight.
Phoebe… had already cleaned up all the evidence.
She opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.
프
Elliot said coldly, “The wedding is in three days. I’ll be with Phoebe until then–I’ll only show up on the wedding day.”
He gave her a warning look. “Don’t cause any more trouble, or the wedding is canceled.”
