“Open it, then.” Zachary shot Bobby a cold look.
Bobby paused, then explained, “Mr. Finch, you took the key with you. Don’t you remember?”
Seemingly anticipating Zachary’s next words, Bobby quickly added, “The water tank was modified. The technicians managed to make one key, and that key is with you.”
Zachary’s lips twitched, but he said nothing. His face darkened as he stood still, as if waiting for something.
I couldn’t help but wonder if Zachary required an invitation before releasing me.
Soon, Nina entered the room with a pale face.
Zachary turned to her, his expression softening. “Nina, give me the key. I’m letting Sarah out.”

A flicker of reluctance passed through Nina’s eyes. But then an idea seemed to strike her, and she said with excitement,
That’s great! This means Sarah will forgive me, right?
“But if she doesn’t forgive me, I’ll do anything to make it up to her. I’ll beg her on my knees so she doesn’t kick me out. I’ll do anything for you, Zac. Even if-”
Zachary had no interest in hearing any more. He suppressed his unease and extended his hand toward Nina. “Give me the key.
Nina’s face stiffened. “L… Zac, I’m sorry. I lost the key. You can punish me if you want! It’s all my fault.
“I thought it would be better to carry it with me, so I could give it to you whenever you wanted to see Sarah. I didn’t expect to
lose it. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Zac!”
As she spoke, she began to slap her own face repeatedly, muttering “sorry” with each hit.
