7.00pm
Collin pulled up in front of my house and turned the ignition off, I slowly turned to look at the building and exhaled deeply.
I reached for the handle about to pull it open and step out, Collin voice stopped me.
“Your new door pass,” he said, I almost forgot that I asked to change all the locks, I took it from him and turned again to leave,”
“I found something,” he muttered, I paused and slowly turned to look at him, he instinctively stretched out his hands to the back seat, took out a brown envelope I didn’t notice lying there and stretched it out to me, I looked down at the envelope and back up at him.
“I found out about some things you should know about,” he simply said, I looked down at the envelope and gently took it from him, with that, I pulled the door open, stepped out of the car and headed towards my apartment.
The next I heard d was Collin driving the car towards the parking lot, I already told him, he was my assistant not my driver, and I can drive myself, but he insisted driving me home and I didn’t argue with him.
I exhaled deeply, raised my bag to the crook of my elbow as I made my way towards the elevator to take me up my apartment.
The door to the apartment beeped open immediately I used my new card, I walked in slammed the door shut and it automatically locked behind me, Atleast now I’m safe from Novan to a measure.
I dropped my bags and sat on the chair heavily as I took off my shoes, I took out the envelope Collin gave me from my bag and pulled out its contents.
I lazily skimmed through it, my movement stilled immediately as my eyes came in contact with the letters on that paper, I slowly stood up from where I was seated my eyes still glued on it.
I cannot believe this, I reached for my bag immediately, roughly searched in it and took out my phone and dialed Collin, I placed it in my ear immediately, my heart was beating out of my chest, my hands shook as I waiting for him to pick up his
call.

“Collin how sure are you about this!” I asked immediately I heard his voice at the other side of the line.
“Very sure, it’s confirmed!” He replied, my mouth hung open as I gently removed the phone from my ear my grip around the phone thightened as I stared into nothingness, calculating how to best approach this suituation!
Next Morning. Thursday, 9:00am.
DMW Headquarters.
I pushed the door to Mothers office open and walked in, I intentionally put in more effort to my dressing today to piss her off.
The door jammed with a soft thud behind me as I walked into her office, immediately I got close to her, I took my seat on the chairs in front of her desk and crossed my legs.
“What’s the meaning of this?!” She snorted looking up at me, her face carefully knotted in an annoyed frown, I scoffed inwardly at that as I reached for my bag and pulled out the file Collin gave to me yesterday’s night.
I placed it on her table and moved it closer to her, she looked between the file and I, the corner of her lips slightly raised, I just stared at her as she picked up the envelope and tore it open.
“Apparently Father signed five percent shares to me, how come I never heard of it,” I muttered, my gaze not leaving her face, I watched her swallow deeply, she slowly looked up at me and her eyes held my gaze.

“I didn’t think you’d need it,” she replied brazenly like she didn’t just do the dirtiest thing, I raised my brows and tilted my head to the side, my facial expression giving, “really?!”
“I didn’t need it but Michelle did?!” I asked, she rolled her eyes to the back of her head as she slowly reclined to her seat and
folded her hands across her chest
“What are you driving at?!” She snorted starting at me, her gaze stern holding no expression.
“This is case of breach of fiduciary duty or fraud, I can sue you for this, should I?!” I asked leaning closer to her, a small smile appeared at the sides of my lips, I gently pushed the chair backwards and stood up, her gaze following me as I got up to my feet, I gently adjusted my dress and she just stared at me as I did my that, I exhaled deeply and picked up my bag from her
table,
“I expect you to do the needful before day breaks tomorrow, if I don’t see changes by then, I may not accept settlement again,” I said I turned around and began to walk out of her office, she thinks she’s going to have it easy with me?! Never!
“Are you threatening me!” She growled scrapping her chair against the tiled floor as she got up and slammed her hands on the table, I paused in my tracks and slowly turned to look at me, my lips stretched into a small tight smile,
“Ofcourse not, that would be rude of me right?!” I replied and with that I turned around and walked out of her office slammed the door with a soft thud, I only just started taking back what’s mine and she’s this disoriented, what then will happen when
I’m ready to take my revenge on them?!
I scoffed lightly as the elevator door went open and I walked in,
“This is only the beginning” I whispered as I stared at the elevator door go shut.
4:30pm…..
Press conference.
I stood tall at the podium, my hands confidently placed beside me, as I stared at the crowd in the audience, they were mostly
reporters and newscasters.
They all sat in place, some with laptop infront of them, ready to type every single word that would be said at this conference.
Cameras flashed left and right and the room buzzed with anticipation, I slowly turned to look at the spot behind the hall where the minority staff stood, the last time I witnessed a press conference like this, I was standing somewhere in their midst and I ended up running out in disgrace, I could almost see my old self standing deserted at the back of the hall as I stared at it and now I was about to change my fate.
“Hello Everyone, I’m Geraldine Walter,” Mother began, her sharp and confident voice bringing me back to the present, she continued reading off the screen placed in front of her, I simply folded my hands in my front, my eyes hovering round the
hall.
“In the light of that, I’d like to make a big announcement,” she continued.
“DMW, would be appointing Miss Harper as the Chief Operating officer of DMW!” She announced, the clicking of cameras got louder as she made the announcement, camera flashes shining brighter everywhere,
“During the past few years, DMW has constructed over hundred buildings under her administration, this just goes to prove
how very deserving of the position she is!”
“Now, let’s hear from her,” she concluded and slowly turned to look at me, I cleared my throat silently and walked up to the microphone, my eyes slowly searched for Collin in the crowd, immediately my gaze fell on him, he gave me a slight nod and I got speaking
“Hello everyone, “I began reading off of the script they already prepared for me displaying in the screen facing the podium, I paused momentarily as I read within a split second what was on the screen, Just Harper?! What’s the fun in following their

“My name is Harper Walter, Late Chairman Damien Walter’s First daughter!” I said instead, waves of surprised gasps crossed the room, ofcourse some staff already knew but it was time for the whole word to know!
I could feel Mother turn to look at me with a glare, but I ignored her and continued with my speech.
“I might have been left behind the scenes for too long, but now that I’m in charge, I’ll make sure everything goes the way
should go,”

every hands was on deck, either typing furiously or taking pictures.

“It’s only Few minutes after, the whole internet is blowing up,”
“Most of the comments are in your favour,” Collin said to me as we walked side by side to my car,
“That’s good,” I muttered shortly and stretched out my hands to him, without arguing with me he gently dropped my car keys in my hands, he stepped backwards, I held on to my bag tightly and he just stood Infront of the company as he watched me walk towards my car.
Just as I pulled the door to my car open, in a split seconds before I could even get a hang of what was happening, I saw someone dressed in all black slam the door shut and wrapped me securely in his arms, just as I was about to yell, I felt something splash on my face and drip all over my body, I just knew immediately that it was blood, my eyes went wide immediately, I wasn’t feeling any pain in my body, I moved back in horror and looked down at the person whose arms was thrown around me, his whole weight leaning on me.
“Damon!” I muttered horrified, my heart thumping loudly inside my chest.
