Chapter 14
Harper.
Minutes Later…
“Why did you do it?!” I asked my voice barely above a whisper, his mother just stepped out of the room to get something
downstairs, and it was just the both of us left in the room.
He sat up in his bed and turned to look at me, the corner of his lips stretching into a small smug smile, even though I found his smile very annoying I won’t lie that the smile befitted him so perfectly and somehow alleviated his features, giving him the perfect handsome look, like he fell down from another star, he had such a flawless beauty.
“Because I don’t want you to die just yet,” he whispered, his voice coming out soft and smooth, I got short of words immediately he said that, I wasn’t expecting him to say that, I slowly held my lips close tightly and stared at him.
“Do you think this would make me want to join you to ruin my mother and my father’s legacy?!” I asked in reply, he blinked slowly and gently looked up at me,
“I don’t know, you tell me,” he replied, I exhaled deeply and just as I was about to reply, the door pushed open, and his sister
walked in, ignoring me, she rushed towards his bed and pulled him into an hug.
“What were you up to!” She asked her brows knotted in concern, he slowly looked away from her and turned to me, her eyes
followed his gaze and they landed on me also, I just stood there staring at the both of them.
I sighed lightly and raised my bag to the crook of my elbows,
“I’ll take my leave now,” I muttered and with that I turned around to leave, I hadn’t even taken few steps away from them, I felt Daphne hands on my wrist holding me back, I paused in my tracks, my back still turned to her.
“Will you still not help us?! Will you still turn a blind eye?” She said, I slowly turned to look at her, I looked down on her grip on my wrist, she let go of me and stepped backwards.
“I believe I made myself very clear the first time. About this, I’ll see to it that anyone who did this pays,” I said, relunctantly taking my gaze off her and turning to Damon, both of them just stared at me quietly, I turned back to Daphne and with that I wordlessly turned around and walked out of the room, just as I got to the door,
“Can’t you see that this is beyond us?! Geraldine is more archaic than you can ever be, we’re better off together!” Damon said, my movement stilled as I reached for the door knob, it is really difficult to trust anybody right now, they are literal strangers, what assurance do I have trusting them?! Just because we share a common goal doesn’t mean they’ll have my interest at heart, after all humans are known to exploit people for their own good, what makes this sibling different??
I reached for the door, pulled it open and slammed it shut behind me without responding to them.
9:30 am….
The automated revolving door opened up as I walking in through them, immediately I walked in everybody I came in contact with bowed in greeting to me, Collin walked up to me and walked beside me as I made my way towards the elevator.

The elevator slowly went open, and I looked up to see Mother and her assistant in it, I paused with Collin beside me as I looked up and held her gaze, the elevator door was about closing again, she reached out immediately and prevented it from
closing.
“Come in,” she muttered, I swallowed, slowly took a step forward and walked into the elevator, we stood side by side with Collin beside her assistant behind us, I stared intensely at the door as it slowly went close, I won’t deny I still felt nervous
around her.
“How are you enjoying your new office?!” She asked, I didn’t reply to her, I just kept on staring at the elevator door, I heard her

sigh beside me but I didn’t even spare her any glance.
“I already gave you back your shares, enjoy it while it lasts, I know you too well, you never get anything right,” she muttered, my blood boiled hot immediately I heard that, I slowly looked up and finally turned to look at her, the both of us staring at each other in an intense face off.
You’re so confident that I’d mess whatever it is that I’m doing up and I’ll be back to becoming your puppy?! I’m so looking forward to disappoint you dear mother, through my side eyes I saw the elevator door slowly go open, she took her eyes of me
and slowly turned to the door,
“Goodluck trying to make something out of it,” She said and with that she stepped out of the elevator her assistant following closely behind her, my hands balled into a fist as I watched her walk away and the elevator door slowly close.

“She gave you 6 percent stock,” Collin said to me as soon as we walked into my office, he took out his IPad and typed a few
things on it before stretching it out to me,
“I looked through it this morning and I saw that she has added you to the list, you’re now officially a stock holder, but you have to buy more to be able to take part in decision making,” he explained, I nodded slowly handing back his IPad to him, I
gently walked to my desk and placed my bag in it, I turned back to face him and folded my hands across my chest.
“How many percent does Michelle have?” I asked.
“25 percent,” he replied I sucked in air somewhat angry, I had been wasting away helping her strenghten her hold here, it had
to take death to reset my memory, I felt cheated.
“I want her stock,” I muttered, Collin slowly met my gaze and nodded slowly.
“I’ll follow your lead,” He replied firmly, I stared at him fiercely determination to take everything she calls life burning within
me, I’ll makesure I break her into just the exact same number of piece she broke me into and leave her feeling miserable for
the rest of her life.
3:30pm….
The door to my office bursted open, I felt a cold shiver run down my spine as Novan stormed into my office and towards me, banging the door hard behind me.

I shook at the loud sound, his presence alone was suffocating, a constant reminder of the pain and trauma he had inflicted upon me, I mean, I still haven’t grown the balls to stand up to the person that killed me with his bare hands, no matter how
much I tried, I still feel scared when I see him, it was why I changed the locks of my house.
My heart raced as he covered the distance between us and leaned in closer to me, I swallowed hard trying not to show my
fear, I tried to keep my beating heart in place but it turned out to be something I could not control,
“Who was he?!” He asked in a growl, I pushed my chair backwards a little bit and got up to my feet, he slowly let go of my
table and stood up straight and I stared back into his eyes,
“What do you think?!” I whispered in reply, I could not bring myself to mutter more than three or four words, so that I don’t make it obvious that I was a nervous wreck,
His eyes narrowed at me angrily, nothing pisses him off on this earth than seeing me with another man, and before I could react, his hand shot out, grabbing me by the throat.
Panic swelled up through me, my breath caught in my chest as I struggled against his grip, I grabbled a hand full of his shirt tightly and squeezed it against my hands hitting his chest hard so he can let go of me, but he just stood there staring at me, seeming to enjoy me struggling for breath.
The door slowly went open and Collin walked in, he dashed towards us immediately and grabbed Novan’s hands releasing me

from his grip, I sauntered backwards as my heart rise and fell heavily in my chest, struggling to get a grip of my breathing.
“And who is this?!” Novan gritted angrily turning to look at Collin as he tried to remove his grip from his hands, Collin aggressively dropped his hands and gestured towards the door,
“You should leave now,” He said, Novan made to move close to me again but Collin stepped in front of him immediately,
“Don’t make me call the security, the next time you come here to harass her, you won’t find it funny!” Collin said firmly,
Novan slowly looked away from him and looked at me over his shoulders,
“Don’t think you’ve escaped, this is either do or die! It’s by force!” He threatened and with that he turned around and stormed
out of the office.
My hands flung to my chest immediately and I dropped to my chair tears dropping my eyes, Fuck! Why the hell is Novan still
making me teary,
“Are you okay?!” Collin asked placing his hands on my shoulder, I raised my hands to my face sobbing lightly as I nodded
slowly, he gently wrapped his hands around me and that was all it took for me to burst out in tears again.
Darn this weak tear gland!.
6:30pm.
I pushed the door to the hospital room open, it was just Daphne and Damon inside and they were both packing to leave
already, they paused and slowly turned to look at me at the door across the room.
I slowly walked into the room and closed the door behind me,
“They can be trusted,” Collin’s words kept ringing in my head as I made my way further into the room, they were right, this
was more than me, this was more than us, I needed more people on my team to give me high success rate, at this point I don’t
mind us exploiting each other just to get the job done!
What was there to loose anyway, I have just one year to get all of this done with, the earlier I get it done, the better for me and
if that includes teaming up with them to get the job done, I don’t mind.
I stopped walking and slowly placed my legs beside each other, I slowly looked between Damon and Daphne and my gaze finally settled on Damon.
“Let’s ruin my mother, together!” I whispered.
